People now 4 to 5 Lt Generals will retire now. So they have to be replaced by 4 to Major Generals who would be promoted. In my opinion two of them should be Major General Bilal Akbar head of Sindh Rangers and Major General Sher Afghan who is heading FC Baluchistan.

All seniors to Lt Gen Bajwa will resign.
Lt Gen Syed Wajid Hussain
Lt Gen Najibullah Khan
Lt Gen Ishfaq Nadeem Ahmed
Lt Gen Javed Iqbal Ramday

If I'm not wrong Gen. Bajwa was on 4th in seniority

If I'm not wrong Gen. Bajwa was on 4th in seniority

2 (Gen, RS & Rashid) will retire & 2 (Lt. Gen Ashfaq Nadeen & J.I Ramday) will resign

first two are non combatant, so they might not retire, as they already knew they wouldnt be selected.

4th in seniority regarding COAS consideration.
The first two haven't commanded Corps but still they are senior to Mr. Bajwa. It's tradition and they will resign.

Guys I know that it's normal procedure and I also agree with @MastanKhan but never the less they are going to retire the real purpose of starting this thread was that I think Major General Bilal Akbar who is heading Sindh Rangers and Major General Sher Afghan who is heading FC Baluchistan should be made Lt Generals. They can be of great use against the internal battle we are fighting.

Hi,

As I stated earlier---it must not be the choice of the generals to retire before their term ends---just because they have been superceded by a junior general.

They serve the nation and that is what their focus needs to be.

Hi,

This tradition should be abolished----. It is worthless and serves no purpose---. The generals must serve their term regardless of promotion or not.

They are there to serve the nation.
They have vast experience and this ego-centric tradition leaves army devoid of top leadership and it takes time to fill in the gap and by that time, it is already time for new chief.

I don't think it is enforceable. A serving officer has the right to retire from the service whenever he has served the minimum number of years required of him for whatever reason

Sir, I am confused, I thought the way it works is that they have already served; and their term in their current capacity has ended. Unless they got the higher up roles. So how is it that they've not served?

Second, any modern military does it the same way. If the same people clang onto their seats, how would you bring new blood and talent? Remember, when these guys took the advance warfare management courses and served at the front or in conflicts, that time and today's time are different, so are the weapon systems, needs and wants. So its optimal to continue to rotate and bring fresh, young blood in. Two of these guys went up so they have the strategic experience to now build more fine men like them. Thanks
