New Delhi: The army’s demand for more roads along the Sino-India border has made the government give forest clearance to 35 strategic road projects in Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.
The decision came soon after the Supreme Court’s central
empowered committee (CEC) completed its report and submitted it before the bench. According to the report, the proposed roads pass through high altitude alpine areas and would involve felling 3,042 trees, 9,769 shrubs, 14,018 herbs and 5,000 bamboos.
“All the 35 projects are of strategic importance and are along the India-China border,” Jairam Ramesh, the minister for environment said. The Indian Army had told the CEC the projects were needed to meet the strategic requirements of the country.
For some of these projects, the army had been waiting for a green signal from the Supreme Court since 2005. The army said it needed the roads as they would give India a strategic access route overlooking the Chinese side.

What the hell in the name of trees they are holding country on ransom.
Look at chinese what type of infrastructure they have build. Forget about trees they don't care about their own people but do what they think right.
But we should at least do the things which are of vital importance.
