First at all, I really think this is very meaningless to compare a city with a nation, including this article. HK is a very small city with almost non resource at all. HK GDP is solely based on service sector, since we have almost non existing industry and resource to export. Thus, comparing to a nation with a far larger land and rich resource to export is not on equal footing. Not to mention, HK GDP is in fact underrepresented, because daily smuggling goods between China and HK, and the most insidious side of HK economy, money laundering, are not included in GDP calculation.
