MALKANGIRI: Three Maoists were gunned down in an encounter with security forces in a forest in Malkangiri district today, police said.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of Special Operation Group (SOG) and District Voluntary Force (DVF) launched an operation in Bhejaguda forest of Mathili area where they came face to face with a group of ultras, Malkangiri Superintendent of Police Mitrabhanu Mohapatra said.
Thereafrer, a fierce exchange of fire broke out in which three red rebels, including Darabha Maoist division area committee member Sunadhara and his two body guards were killed, while several others fled, he said.
A pistol, some sharp weapons, walkie talkie sets, Maoist uniforms and several other naxal materials including literature were recovered from the site.
Sunadhara, who held an important position in Maoist hierarchy, was allegedly involved in many crimes in Mathili area in Odisha and adjoining Darabha region in Chhattisgarh, police said.
Combing and patrolling has been intensified in the area after the incident, they said.

As an indian they were given enough chances to come to the mainstream,we still do but they choose this miserable death for themselves.

i wonder why nato isn't coming to the aid of these rebels... nato did that in libya and syria.

Because India has not allowed it to escalate beyond a Law and Order issue. Simple.

80,000 crpf plus maybe 20,000 more general police and airforce and salwa judum trying to kill off a few thousand naxals is not quite fair.

Keep on wondering.

that was only for rhetoric... we all know the answer, yes?? ;)

it will be like expecting nato to bomb spanish military for targeting eta or columbian government for targeting farc or the turkish government for targeting dhkp-c... won't happen.

Fair and Unfair is governed by the law of the land.

it would be better for the "law of the land" to shoot "honor killing" parents and interest-taking bank owners in the head.

Law Exists to nab the perpetrators and excuse me, it does not go to an extent of shooting as the police quite successfully manages to nab them instead.

how many private bank managements have been arrested for causing tens of thousands of farmer suicides?? which school or college management has been arrested for causing student suicide?? how many "honor killing" family members and supporters have been arrested in the last 68 years... in fact, "honor killing" wasn't a term known in india law circles until western media described it for indian cases.

what's the point here ?

Your sacrifices will not go in vain .My salute to all freedom fighters who are fighting against those who are day dreaming of united india in the name of hindutva ideology.
India is not a country it,s a broad geographical term.
