What's new

3 C-295 Aircraft for the PAF

Tell that to Indonesians dude ..... :), Europeans discovered Indonesia while they are in search of India!!

Yeah im sure .. Indonesia didnt even exist and Indonesians also migrated from india just like the mexicans etc.

.
And indonesia should use IAF instead of indians using it?

P.S: Most of the world doesnt even know if Philipines has a airforce or not.. lol

Well if an Indian asks an Indonesian to change the name of its air force, then yes, he deserves to be told exactly that.

And most of the world not knowing about Philippines Air force reflects on their ignorance.. Not on Philippines..

Just like the fact that despite being 1/2 of Pakistan's size in population, philippines's GDP is more than that of Pakistan. The fact that they spend most of that money on Human development and are not unfortunate like India and Pakistan to have huge Airforces to fight with each other, is some thing for them to be happy about.. And if that means they dont need to have a large air force.. Good for them..

Not a comment on the GDP per se.. Dont take it otherwise.. What I am commenting on is that despite having a much larger per capita GDP than both India and Pakistan, the size of Philippines' military is so small since most of its economy is focussed around Human development and now commerce.. Which by any measure is a good thing

ATR 72 is a larger plane...must be more expensive....and.why dont they compete then to supply philipinos ? it must be because the price parameter. ATR 72 is also not designed as a military plane at its first design work, it is a civil plane with modification.

Even USA prefers CN-235: USA Coast Guard and USAF (for special operation)

USAF Special Operations

Yeah! Its Civilian but still I can say that they should look towards other options.

But heard that in 2013 that PAF is interested in buying more of these more over PN was also very interested. But I think it was better for PAF to get 7 CN-235 and 7 CN-295 along with PN getting 11 of CN-295 for Naval role.

Yup, you have transport CN-235.....I bet you need the CN-235 MPA version with torpedo and missile on it for your Navy.......Indonesia Navy still need many of this version...and also NC 212 maritime patrol.....we still need around 65. CN 235 winglet version is more economical to operate, particularly in MPA version...to ease the wind barrier because of the missile and the big radar below the body, thus it helps to save fuel and speed.

I believe you also need CN-295 for army transport.......and if you need it....please get it from Indonesia....not from Airbus.....:D

20 March 2015

Airbus Defence and Space has handed over the first C-295 medium transport aircraft to the Philippines Air Force (PAF) at its final assembly line in Seville, Spain. In February 2014, Airbus was selected to supply three C-295 planes to PAF at a cost of PHP5.29bn ($118m), to enhance help the overall lift capability of the air force. The aircraft is expected to play a key role in the modernisation of the force's transport fleet and will undertake a wide variety of military and humanitarian missions.Philippines Air Force spokesperson lieutenant colonel Enrico Canaya was quoted by INQUIRER.net as saying that the aircraft will undergo an acceptance process following arrival in the country."This is a medium-lift plane, an equivalent of Fokker. This will be used in transporting cargos, disaster response."

Philippines Defence Undersecretary Fernando Manalo earlier told philstar.com that the aircraft would be delivered to Clark Air Base on Luzon Island in the Philippines, between 23 and 25 March. The remaining two C-295 airlifters are scheduled to be delivered in 2016, and will supplement PAF's existing transport fleet consisting of three Fokker planes and three C-130 Hercules. The C-295 is a stretched variant of the CN-235 transporter. It is a tactical military transport aircraft designed to carry out tactical airlift, search-and-rescue, and maritime patrol and environmental surveillance missions in all-weather conditions.

Why derailing this thread

FYI officially TNI (armed forces) never used term Indonesian Armed Forces in national nor international levels

This imply
There is no Indonesian Air Force nor Indonesian Navy nor Indonesian Army in our nomenclature
There are only
TNI AU for air force
TNI AL for navy
TNI AD for army

And if you notice international media too using these official abbreviation
