DB spokesman Masudur Rahman told bdnews24.com the bloggers were arrested from Dhaka’s Indira Road, Palashi and Monipuri Parha areas on Monday night.

Those arrested were identified as Subrata Adhikari Shuvo, Mashiur Rahman Biplob and Rasel Parvez.

DC Rahman said their laptop and personal computers were seized.Meanwhile, friends and classmates alleged that one ‘Shuvo’, an MA student in Dhaka University’s Bangla department, was

around 10:30pm Monday and picked Shuvo up from in front of Jagannath Hall.”

“Shuvo was called over phone and told to come at the hall gate. Two men spoke with him there and took him away with them,” Rahim said. ‘United Commercial Bank’ was written on the back of the microbus, but there wasno logo, he said.

Asked to comment, DC Masudur Rahman said, “I don’t know anything about
picking up someone or lodging of any GD.” He said a press briefing on the arrest of

Are they atheist?

not sure , but they are part/organizers of Shahbag protest. i used to know one of them, his blogging nick was Allama-Shaytan...

Its a good move by government. I hope it will send a warning to the Atheist blogger to not to make offensive statements against Islam and Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH).

Yup that's the reason but at least it will stop offensive statements against Islam and Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH).

Its a very bad precedence for Bangladesh.
Instead of dismantling Shahbag Mancha they started arresting random people aka blogger. Bloggers were never an issue for the Mullahs rather War Crime Tribunal is.

I read the article. Its not clear who the powerful force the reporter is referring to that was behind this Shahbag circus. Is it India?

Its obvious that AL is now in trouble, the party have been branded as anti-Islam, because of its support of the Shahbag fiasco. Now they are in damage control mode.

But why would India do such a thing? Just to attack Islam in Bangladesh? They think they can reduce people's attachment to Islam with these kind of amateurish joke like Shahbag? Are they that stupid?

Looking at PDF Indians, it would not surprise me though.

On Friday, National Security Adviser (NSA) Shivshankar Menon said the protests were a sign of the "open-mindedness" of the Bangladeshi youth, who were battling extremism and upholding fundamental values of democracy. Setting up the Ram Sathe chair in Pune, Menon said, "The ongoing spontaneous gathering against extremist elements and war criminals by thousands of youth at Shahbagh intersection in Dhaka shows the strength of feeling, capacity for political mobilization and open-mindedness of Bangladeshi youth."
