2nd Fast Attack Craft (FAC) Launched in Karachi

Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works (KSEW) has launched Fast Attack Craft (FAC) for Pakistan Navy with the transfer of technology from the Chinese company 'China Shipbuilding and Offshore Company (CSOC) (Pvt) Limited.

KARACHI: Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works (KSEW) will build a Fast Attack Craft (FAC) for Pakistan Navy in collaboration with the Chinese company 'China Shipbuilding and Offshore Company (CSOC) (Pvt) Limited.

"We hope to complete the project of the 'Attack Craft' with missile carrier by April next year," said Chief of Staff, Pakistan Navy Vice Admiral Tayyab Ali Dogar, while addressing the ceremony on the occasion here on Friday.

"It is historic occasion for the country and Pakistan Navy for collaboration with the Chinese brothers on this project," he maintained.

He said that the project of missile carrier craft will further improve the defence capabilities of Pakistan in collaboration with the Chinese experts and boost the strength of Pakistan Navy.

Speaking on the occasion, the Managing Director, KSEW, Rear Admiral Hasan Nasir Hussain Shah, praised the services of the engineering sector of KSEW which would complete the project 3-weeks in advance of the scheduled time.

"The craft will have maximum speed of 30 knots propelled by 4- diesel engines" Shah said.

The craft boat will be equipped with latest weapons and sensors, he maintained.

The MD KSEW said that the yard successfully constructed a number of warships including missile crafts, tugs and fabricated many of the utility ships.

"We are capable enough to meet all shipbuilding requirements of the maritime sector," he added.

Oh Yes! the craft looks great. I guess its speed is alright too. I mean its not as fast as it shold be but its in the middle ranges. I hope it need to be enhanced to 40-50 knots in near future cuz all western ships are coming out to be 30+ Knots in very near future.

for that we can buy some exotic speed boats and fit some missiles on that Anyways 30 is quite decent what do you think should suffice?

few weeks back i have heard similar news about construction of FAC in Karachi shipyard i think its the same boat but why it is again in media if its same ?

Because type 22 is only for defensive while Azmat class we are getting plays both roles defence + offense.
