Did I justify calling a black a nigg*r? That's a term, short for Negro, which was originally coined with a derogatory meaning, which is well known even by kids. On the other hand, like I said, I wasn't even aware that Chinese get offended by the other term until I came onto forums.

Most racial slurs were not inherently offensive when they started out, but they became so over a period of hundreds of years. Unless someone was born hundreds of years ago I would not expect them to make such a silly excuse.

Ch*nk really fits as a shorter version for Chinese. Nigg*r doesn't fit as short for African or black, or Jamaican, or anything else you can think of, and was a term used by whites to look down on their "slaves" as some lesser form of life.

And like I said, all my Indian friends who have referred to Chinese as that, have no idea that it is offensive. I stopped using the term when I learned that Chinese find it offensive. How is ***** head short for Indian? On the one hand, you call us racist, on the other you make senseless racist arguments.

I'm not making an excuse for the fools on ToI comments who call Chinese "Ch*nk B***ards". I'm just telling you that many of us don't even know that it is racist to call you guys Ch*nk (not the B***ard part of the slur. We all know that's abusive)

And since we are on the topic of silliness, why not think about how silly it is for 80% of China's population to hate India because about 100 or so people in ToI comments call them Bastards? In that case, it would mean all Indians should be mortal enemies of China after reading just one thread on PDF, which is qite clearly not the case.

All I ever said was that the majority of Indians aren't even aware of the fact that Chinese get offended by it. Again I repeat, I know it is racist and never refer to any Chinese as a Ch*nk in conversation.

You have to remember that Indians have an proud and ancient history of being some of the biggest racist on earth.

Internet Hindus are simply preserving their ancient and noble traditions

I never said that the racist slur is not a racist slur. I even stated that it is supposedly banned by the GoI.

Actually when I joined PDF in 2010 I was very favourable to India.

In the Chinese news I only ever see nice things about India, for example about them being a fast-growing BRIC economy, or the connection they have to Buddhism. India was portrayed as a "fellow developing country" that also had a bad time during the age of colonization just like we did, and who had many historical and cultural similarities with us.

But when I actually took the initiative to start talking to them on here and elsewhere I found out that this perception was quite wrong.
