I suspect that he wants to follow Putin. It is his personal ambition that overpowered all the other political faction in CCP. And that is a bad for China future if nobody can stop his ambition to go into the next level. But if he can choose capable people to help him, then the impact won't be significant.

I think if there is no one can replace Xi, then there is something wrong with the political system in China. Because even with struggle and war, United States can always change their president without any problem. So I doubt that the lack of candidates is the case. CCP is not a institution that just born yesterday.

I doubt that the China's bubble problem must be solved with Xi stay as the president. I also doubt that the USA's Cold War 2.0 need Xi as the head of the states for the third term. Remember, CCP is a giant organization that has evolve since 1949. They are not an immature political party with lack of talents, etc. So even if Xi step down and replace with a newer president, CCP will not get into trouble.

Xi Jinping is true socialist, his socialist mind set push him to wanting another 5 years term with highly political support in CCP (Thus he kick out his opponent that has more liberal view on the economy and how the state should manage social welfare and others).

He wants China to be true socialist country, not end up like USA where liberal capitalist become the king.

His last second term shows who he really is that purge many Chinese conglomerates after he consolidates more power.
