There will be 2 stadiums being used for the event according to recent news, beside Istora Senayan in my above post, Indonesia Basketball Association will also use Basketball Hall in the same GBK complex for FIBA Asia Cup 2022.

If we have 2 stadiums used for the same event, it means it can gather more TV viewers from many countries for live events.

Currently Basketball Hall in GBK used for Indonesian basketball professional league competition. I will post the news in the next post.

MARCH 18TH, 2022

JAKARTA - Secretary General of PP PERBASI Nirmala Dewi is pleased that the 2022 FIBA Asia Cup has the full support of the relevant Ministries and Institutions. This assurance was obtained after receiving direct guidance from Plt. Sesmenpora Jonni Mardizal who led the coordination meeting (Rakor) across ministries and institutions (Kemensesneg, Kemenkumham, Police, DKI Jakarta Government, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Transportation, and Ministry of SOEs) directly at the Wisma Auditorium Kemenpora Friday afternoon (17/3).

"I am grateful to be facilitated by the Kemenpora regarding this coordination meeting. We really really need an event like this, we are waiting for coordination between ministries/agencies like this, and thank God what happened today. Alhamdulillah, so far the relevant ministries and institutions have given full support to successful FIBA Asia Cup 2022, next July," explained Nirmala.

After this cross-ministerial/institutional coordination meeting, Nirmala hopes that her party can be more flexible in coordinating. This is all for the success of the event which will be held on 12 to 24 July at the venues of Istora Senayan, GBK Arena and Basketball Hall Senayan.

"Hopefully, after we coordinate all of these between ministries and institutions and have received updates from us, regarding what programs and future steps, and we have received directions, in the future we can be more flexible to coordinate between ministries and institutions because we know This activity is for the Red-White and there are no problems, just a matter of coordination," he explained.

During the meeting, the Secretary General of PP PERBASI was present with the Chairperson of the 2022 FIBA Asia Cup Committee, Junas Miradiarsyah. After the meeting, Junas said that he was more motivated to prepare for the 2022 FIBA Asia Cup because the relevant ministries/institutions fully support the implementation of the international basketball event in Jakarta.

"We as the committee are increasingly motivated to give the best, because this is for Red-and-White. This coordination shows that all relevant ministries/agencies support, especially this pandemic will lead to an endemic and the 2022 FIBA Asia Cup international event is a benchmark that Indonesia can speak more at the international level," Junas explained.

Meanwhile, Plt Sesmenpora Jonni Mardizal said after the meeting that in this meeting all ministries and institutions provided support for the FIBA ASIA CUP 2022 activities. All relevant ministries or institutions had agreed to their respective roles. For example, the Police are related to security, the Ministry of Transportation is related to transportation, the Ministry of Law and Human Rights is related to immigration and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is related to passports and diplomats and the DKI Jakarta Regional Government also provides support.

"Alhamdulillah, we heard from ministries and institutions that basically support the FIBA Asia Cup 2022 activities. Hopefully, good coordination and cooperation between us all can be carried out well. We will show the world that Indonesia is safe, healthy and can organize international events ," said Johnny.

Regarding health protocols, Sesmenpora ensured that this activity would implement strict health protocols, following the development of Covid-19 cases, including related to quarantine policies for athletes and officials.

"If I'm not mistaken, as of April 1 there will be no quarantine anymore, now try in Bali. However, during the implementation, if there are any changes, we will coordinate with the Covid Task Force and information from the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment," he explained.

The FIBA Asia Cup 2022 in July will be followed by 16 participating countries. This event was attended by 480 athletes and officials. The Indonesian basketball team has been confirmed to join Group A with Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Australia. (*)

GBK Arena will be used as well, I think it is for practice. GBK Arena is indoor sport facility where there are basketball, volley ball, badminton, and other sports field under one building with many floors.

Basketball field in GBK Arena, GBK sport complex, Jakarta.

Indonesia is ready for the event. The national team has been in Australia for about 3 weeks, preparing for the game with 10 friendly match with Australian NBL 1 teams.

The last practice for Indonesian team before facing Saudi Arabia team Today. This is GBK Basketball hall, located not far from the Istora Senayan where the games will be held.

I see Aldi Izzatur Rahman, number 29, does the practice, despite he is not included in the list, but maybe he is added in the list as 12 Indonesian players in the last minutes. He has 193 cm height and good in shooting, I think a good addition for the team, young player, university student.
