2012 Corruption Perceptions Index

.
thanks for the feeds, some countries seem bearing inborn nature of integrity. I see some S.American and even African nations are leading the index.

Venezula at the bottom is a bullsh1t as many S. American states share the same culture. It's quite like an ideology ranking and I personally know Cuba is finely a clean country in terms of corruption.

.
There are few bigger Bulldogs than Zardari in the world or I guess if PPP comes again then Zardari will prove me wrong.

.
Zardari's mission is to take country at number one position in any of the segment. now He hasn't ability to improve Law&order, justice, PIA, Steel mil etc He has specialty only in corruption so you will see before end of his tenure surly he will take the country in top 10 most corrupt nations.

.
:hitwall: pakistan is more corrupt then us? :frown: damn it , al- khongress must have given money to these survey guys.

This has nothing to do with culture. This has to do with state efficiency. Transparency and honesty are just not inherent human qualities -- they need to be enforced by the state: there need to be rules and a system of punishment for wrongdoers. Otherwise there will be corruption, independently of culture.

Bhutan is doing well by south asian standard. Srilanka is better than India. :)

I agree with you partly but you have to admit at the same level of economic stage or governing practice. Some nations can score better points than others.

I'm not sure. Without regulation to enforce transparency, most people will be corrupt and dishonest, no matter their cultural background. Greed is just part of human nature and culture doesn't do away with it. Though there can be variation between countries in the same development level, there probably won't be much variation if they have similar rules and similar ability to enforce them on people.

The ranking, in fact, proves that. Countries with very similar development levels, and cultural and historical background -- Uruguay and Argentina, for example -- can score very differently on the scale.
