It is not old news. It is very recent. The date of the news article is Sunday 28 August. Like I said, there is division among senior political figures. Although, Britain is free to do whatever it wants, it needs to take note that the damage they are inflicting upon themselves can become irreparable. There is a limit to the blackmail and insults hurled by the racist right wing fanatics. Nigel Farage needs to shut his ugly gob about the EU and mind his own business now that he has achieved to make Britain weaker through Brexit. His hateful statements aren't doing any good and will hurt the EU Britain relations in the longer run. Britain needs to keep its Trump on a leash.

You are overestimating your clout. Don't underestimate the EU either. It includes strong countries which are also trading powerhouses. If the UK sets ridiculous demands so will the other countries.
