At least one in five people in the United Kingdom think that not a single migrant from Turkey, Romania, Nigeria, Egypt or Pakistan should be accepted, according to a new survey.

The survey conducted by YouGov reveals that there is a strong desire for a reduction in migrants from Eastern Europe, Africa, the Middle East and South Asia. In fact, if British voters could have their ideal immigration system, it would accept immigrants with in-demand skills and well-spoken English.

Britain rejecting Pakistani visa applicants in droves

As Britain has now voted to leave the European Union (EU), it would have to develop a new immigration policy. It is likely that the British government would lower immigration levels as a result of the referendum.

An overwhelming majority of the British public – 70% of people – think that immigration into Britain has been too high over the last ten years. Close to half (44%) say it has been “much too high”. According to the study, Britons are most happy with migration from advanced economies, particularly those with English-speaking populations.

The most often cited reasons as to why immigrants should not be accepted are criminal records, low skill-set for the workplace and poor English proficiency. More than eight in ten (83%) of people said that whether a migrant had a record of violent crimes was ‘very important’, as did 62% for minor or non-violent crimes. Further, English proficiency was important for 84% of people, whilst a migrant’s education level was important to 81% of people. Three quarters (76%) of people are also keen to ensure that a migrant already has a job lined up.

As 7th largest immigrants, Pakistanis not eligible for US diversity visa

The least cited reasons were religion, IQ and age. Britons want to scrutinise most areas of a migrant’s life before accepting them, including whether a migrant wanted to bring their family (73%), their existing wealth (60%), their age (53%) and even their IQ (53%). In fact, the only area that the majority of people didn’t think was important was a migrant’s religion (31%).

Unsurprisingly, Remain voters take a much more relaxed approach to what type of migrants the UK admits than their Leave-voting counterparts. Following Brexit, Britain certainly has a huge task ahead of it to devise a new immigration policy to suit, if not all, than a majority of people.

.
This is to be expected from a country which voted for Brexit. They want to reap the benefits, but not share the burden. I hope the EU gets tough with Britain on single market access.

As for accepting lesser migrants from Eastern Europe, Africa, Middle East etc. is their own choice. Other countries will behave in a similar fashion and that would mean more protectionism. If that is what they wish for, they'll certainly get it.

That is people being PC, else Pakistan (along with other Muslim countries) would not have been singled out, and would have scored higher than India.

@waz @mods we need some modding here thanks to the troll feat started by an out of control Indian and to the Pakistanis taking the bait plz stop.
Ignore him and do not derail the thread. That's exactly what he wants and needs.

As for the news well stats are amazing aren't they.

So that means 4/5 people are cool which means that 80 percent of the people who participated in this survey don't have a problem with migrants or atleast have different views as compared to the 20% ..

Anyhow it doesn't matter. You cannot blanket the actions of a handful Muslims to the majority especially those that are actively sacrificing and fighting against these threats. The western media is a master of formulating opinions and anti Muslim drive started after 9/11 has only made things worse as it has festered and cemented fear and hatred for the Muslims as well as Muslim culture.

And the Mayor of London is??.....
You guessed it.
Isn't 20 to 30 percent always a constant in most countries?

.
British want have a bite of cake but on doing nothing it's just not possible with this mindset British going to self destruct

.
20% don't like us. We are okay with that.

.
Not much. We need to improve on that. :D

Lol, what's wrong with this? 20%, big deal. It's probably far better than any other Western country.

Where is our little brother NZ? They would get top spot. AUS is to be expected, another little bro, and our dear Canadian kin.
The US gets top spot, but I don't the British people realise that their demographics have changed massively. Many Brits ares stuck in the 50's to 80's, regarding the image of the US.

Get tough? They can try and we will just laugh, and sign deals elsewhere.

The Brits have been enjoying the single market access for decades. Yes, the EU nations also profited from trade with Britain. However, the Brits have been behaving very inappropriately lately. The racist UKIP leader Nigel Farage has been a disgrace for Britain. Challenging the EU whilst also demanding single market access. Cannot have it both ways. The EU has every right to demand loyalty from Britain.

Having said that, the UK is free to leave the EU, but it should stop demanding single market access. If the Brits think they can make up for this loss elsewhere good luck to them.

The UK doesn't want single market access anymore. It's nonsense to equate trade with massive freedom of movement form poorer countries. The EU can keep that. The UK will trade on its terms.

That's not entirely true. Senior political figures are divided on single market access.

Theresa May calls Brexit meeting amid reports of single market split

The UK won't be solely trading on its own terms. There is always an opposing country which also has its own terms and conditions. It always takes two to tango.

Britain cannot stop the flow of people coming and leaving their country. This is an illusion and a false promise made by the leaders of racist right wing parties who have called quits after Brexit. It will be business as usual.

That's old news. She clearly stated that the single market is not red line i.e. we will ditch it for control borders.
Yes it takes two to tango, but we hold so much clout.
