Kiev (AFP) - Russian aircraft carrying nearly 2,000 suspected troops have landed at a military air base near the regional capital of the restive Crimean peninsula, a top Ukrainian official said Friday, accusing Moscow of an "armed invasion".

"Thirteen Russian aircraft landed at the airport of Gvardeyskoye (near Simferopol) with 150 people in each one," Sergiy Kunitsyn, the Ukrainian president's special representive in Crimea, told the local ATR television channel, adding the air space had been closed. It was not immediately clear if Russia had the right to use the base or send additional troops there under its agreements with Ukraine.

Russians clearly have upper hand there. No one will do a $hit against Russians except some talks!!

Funny part is they quietly moved in without any badges took over important institutions in Crimea within like 2 days and is already disarming Ukrainian soldiers.. The Entire thing is going on while west threatens Russia NOT to intervene militarily... Kind Hilarious ... PUtin again making obama and Europe look like an clueless monkey

Dafaq...Russian flags are beginning to be raised in Ukranian mainland cities of Kharkov and Donestk...they are not even in Crimea

Alive and well, Hype, just papers so really busy. How've you been and btw 'where' have you been???
I think someone who is more well-versed in the contemporary European affairs would be better to tackle this.
Mate you alive? We need an in-depth what-if analysis on this topic! o_O

Russian armoured vehicles in Crimea
Euronews' correspondent Sergio Cantone reports ten armoured vehicles with Russian army identifications on the road from Sevastopol towards Simferopol, soldiers telling him they are Russian marines conducting military exercises. Pictures soon on Euronews.
