This was the last year for these regimes. We were in the then West Germany in August and September, then in Austria. This was long, long before my stint in Hungary. Just as we left Austria for Italy, for Venice, the disturbances started, that led to the fall of the Wall.

Extraordinary days.

Little did these parading soldiers guess that these would be their last parades.
