According to Imran Khan, on this day in 1987, anything that could possibly go wrong for Pakistan, went wrong.

One of the first cricket related heartbreaking moments for Pakistan from 30 years ago. This was the rare occasion that they were expected to win in the World Cup semi finals. They had been knocked out of the previous 3 world cups by West Indies, and this time they were facing a weakened Australia side at home. What is quite remarkable are the similarities between the Imran-Miandad partnership of 1987 Semi and the 1992 Final, although one resulted in heartbreak and the other in victory.

This game also ended the careers of some poor guys: Mansoor Akhtar and Saleem Jaffar. On the flip side it made some unknown players into heroes: Steve Waugh, Craig McDermott, Mike Velletta. Full match highlights below:
