1965 Biggest Tank Battle since WW II - Pakistani Victory : The Australian

dude, even your military commanders never claim that tank battle in 1965 was a success.

:offpost:

Just talk about Pak victory only!! Any thing else will be classified as Troll :D

On a serious note they put up a good resistance!

Good that you pointed it out. I was about to miss it. The 1st EB regiment was transferred to the West precisely because they were not considered 'reliable' as Yahya Khan put it. In the East they were considered to be prone to 'defection'! Quite like the way Danes and Dutch fought in the Waffen SS against the Russians but not against the West.
Seems like you tried to infiltrate Eastern front too....or 1EastBengal soldiers went to the western front to fight and the infantry captured it and brought it home as a trophy!

It was actually a suicidal resistance. Without that make or break attack, the Indian Tank division would have established a strong bridgehead. Unfortunately, the Pak forces did not even try a battlefield recon...not even an air recon. When they attacked, the Indians were already grounded(and held defensive positions). Not becoz the Paks attacked, but because the Indian commander was overly cautious and thought the lack of resistance to be a trap. But even then, the way the Pakistanis died in such a futile charge does say that that unit did not lack in courage. They did not retreat, did not defect - just went straight ahead and got slaughtered. Brave but they were poorly led in that battle.

At the end of the day India ke tank top fore!! For them 1 Indian tank distroyed is victory but if they did in double digits it's HUGE victory, who cares about war and it's objectives!!:laughcry:

This Australian News paper gives a vivid account of the defeat of the Indian Armour attack during that 1965 war.

Just found it somewhere so sharing it here, don't know whether its already posted on pdf.
I posted this in 'Picture of the day' this morning too

I studied 18 year in government school in India. I never come across topics related to Pakistan except when i studied a little bit about south Asian countries in my Geography class.
We are not teaching our kids to hate any religion or any country contrary to your test books, which is filled with hating Hindus and Indians.
1965 was neither a victory for Pakistan not Indian. By the way not the tank regiment it was the PAF role which was commended by the world including India.

hi jpsingh)Please correct your sources of info or do your own research before commenting. In my school time i have never read any text about hating another religion or which specially target hindus.Yes you are right about hating india but that,s because of the wars we have fought and it,s just like hating pakistan in india.
Also you are right about the PAF role more superior than the tank regiments role in 1965 war.Even if we won that tank battle that doesn't make any big difference in the overall scenario of 1965.We had many incidents where we defeated each other but at the end according to neutral sources it was a draw and the results were indecisive.

Till 1965 Pakistan Army keeping in view its equipment and training was relatively superior to the Indian Army. India under Nehru was a peaceful country but the Sino-Indian Conflict of 1962 transformed the whole scenario. Thus while Indian Army had by and large registered no major expansion since 1947 after 1962 the Indians embarked on a highly ambitious expansion programme. It was Pakistan’s good luck that in 1965 this process was at a very rudimentary stage, however by 1971 the whole strategic scenario had changed
