1857- Jihad Against Christianity Commence

Okay lets just assume one Deobandi Sect had declared Jihad against British would other Sects had followed the way? And what is Jihad? Why is freedom resistance declared as Jihad? Isn't Jihad to end religious persecution by the unbelievers. Prophet Mohammad(saw) never started wars but was always defending. He had to march on Mecca after the treaty was broken with the Quraish. I don't Jihad is to be used by any tribe to conquer lands. Jihad can be fought against oppressive government that restricts and persecutes Muslims.

There should have been a united movement with Muslims and Non-Muslims alike to seek freedom from the British. By declaring Jihad, Muslims had all ready divided India into Muslim and Non Muslim camp. The Brits quickly realised that and used the classic divide and conquer strategy.

Yes if jihad was declared many other Muslim groups would be hard pressed to not participate which is why there was such an effort for it to not be declared. In 1857 when it was declared many Muslim who had accepted Mughal emperor as their leader participated and many Imams were slaughtered after the failure of the rebellion.

Why is freedom resistance not a jihad? Jihad means to struggle, is fighting for the freedom of your homeland not a struggle? You consider yourself a Brit if the situation was reversed and India tried to colonize Britain would you not struggle to free Britain? In fact under Islam it would be fard upon you to fight for your country.

Again that is untrue because like stated before in 1857 jihad was declared but it did not lead to fragmentation of the religious groups in Hindustan in fact Hindus played a huge part in that jihad themselves and how many Hindus rallied behind the Mughal emperor as their leader at the time is well known.

British were less into spreading Christianity almost negligible in North India still today only the Adivasis are Christians in North India, in India we only remember Portuguese who resorted to extreme religious persecution to spread Christianity.

First time I will agree with you openly, why OP and jaanbaz are trying to say the war against the Brits was against Christianity idk but they are largely mistaken because Christianity was never seen as the threat to Muslims and Hindus it was only the British government which was seen as the enemy.
