Here's why: IAF has claimed several things that have been debunked by international sources (don't bring up that no name Italian journalist) such as Balakot strikes doing damage, F-16 shot down by Mig-21/Abhinandan but all missiles intact, radar images are proof of F-16 being shot down even Indian journalists don't believe that one.

There's no reason to return pilot if he's not claimed or it's possible he was returned without making a big deal out of it. Also a dead pilot on TV would create public demand for another response which would mean escalation but since day one Pakistan has been advocating de-escalation.
