Mount Waverley Secondary College students accused of attacking girls at station | Avila College

Students from a Melbourne girls' school have accused Mount Waverley Secondary College teens of pelting them with urine- filled balloons at a train station yesterday.

'Meg', a student from nearby Avila College, said students from Mount Waverley also used eggs and water guns filled with hair removal cream and paint in the attack at Mount Waverley station yesterday.

"One of the teachers took the eggs off them," 'Meg' told Radio 3AW this morning.

"They tried to get them back. (The student) then grabbed her around the neck and then another teacher ran and chased them off. It was like, you know, pretty violent.

"We're basically targeted because we're an all-girls school and they don't like us or something."

The allegations came after the brutal gang attack on a group of year 12 Mount Waverley Secondary College at the Valley Reserve in Melbourne's east on Monday night.


A gang of five or six masked men set upon the students, randomly hitting them with weapons believed to be poles or baseball bats.

The attack left six students injured with one suffering serious head injuries.

An 18-year-old male remains in hospital with severe concussion and a suspected broken jaw.

Two 18-year-old males, from Glen Waverley, were arrested and questioned over the attack yesterday before being released without charge.

Mount Waverley Secondary College principal Mark Kosach said he had spoken to the family of the student in hospital and was considering alternative arrangements for his upcoming VCE exams.

Mr Kosach said could find no reason for the attack.

"There was no warning of this at all, we had no inkling that something like this might happen," he said.

"They were just having an innocent get-together."

A senior teacher from Avila Girls College confirmed the egg-throwing allegation to police, but cast doubt on claims a teacher was assaulted.

''We don’t have any official police reports of incidents at Mount Waverley train station,'' said senior sergeant Peter Arnold from the Mount Waverley police station.

''The assistant principal at Avila Girls' College was there. She was within a short distance of where the incidents occurred, and no teacher that she’s aware of, and she would have seen it, was ever put in a headlock.''

And this is a true story, the mother isn't just trying to get publicity. Before news outlets post news, they check that everything is credible. The muslim kids involved have been suspended from school and are in the process of being charged.

Correct. I just thought i would post it on here because no one else has, also debate about this is still going on here.

Australians are going through their own little phase of xenophobia. Although the news must be old since its been a good 2 months since Ramadan was over. These are fifth graders... More like 10 year olds? They bully each other around for stealing smaller boys' lunch altogether. They beat up nerds for being smarter than them. Give them detention for a week and in form their parents. Also the victims should be taught that its imperative to stand up to bullies and not hide away.

We in Dubai live in a highly multicultural society. Non-Muslims tend to eat in private and not in front of us during Ramadan. Although I personally see no problem with them eating in front of us since the fundamental concept of Ramadan is to exercise restraint and the real test would be if the food is right in front of you.

Its really a non-issue, but Muslims should not DEMAND it out of non-Muslims. Although in UAE it IS demanded by law. But I personally feel different about it. This is simple logic. It's just common courtesy of non-Muslims to eat in private during Ramadan's fasting times.

Australians are xenophobic because the media reports a story about muslim kids bashing another kid for eating salami on Ramadan? that's funny and stupid at the same time. The media is not biased and is impartial they can't say "oh we can't post something bad about muslims because we will be called xenophobic!"

Australian society is getting tollerent to other religions gradually , Budhists are the 2nd largest religion in Australia while Muslims are 3rd.

All need respect so what is the point?

There is only one problem with what you said. Australian society is already tolerant of religions. There are many different religions through out Australia. Remember Australia is not a christian country, it has no religion.

I hate y our way of thinking, a negative story gets posted about muslims and instantly stuff like "YOU HATE ISLAM" gets shouted out. I don't hate islam. EVERY religion has negative stories, i am just reporting a negative islam story.

Why are you abusing me? All i did was post a news story and all of a sudden everyone takes it as a personal attack.

Ummmm you are completely wrong. The day this happened it was on every major TV stations news, channel 7, 9,ten, sky news. It was in the herald sun, the age, major newspapers in Sydney, Brisbane. I can't believe you just said right then i am wrong when i am clearly not wrong.

I simply posted news and that is all i did. I am not anti muslim and i do not hate muslims. I have muslim friends. It's shocking that you have the balls to say "You are anti muslim" When i am telling you that i am not. I think i would know better then you, what i am.
