With the looming recession, low growth rate for the next two years and 40 percent GDP contraction in this quarter things are not looking good. Modi as usual is busy directing his RSS forces and organizing mobs to attack and kill Muslims.
Sad times in India indeed :

And why is it unique to India

What kind of dumb thinking is that??? Lost wages, lost consumption, lost productivity, lost oppertunity .... they all result in lost GDP FOREVER...

WHY IS LOSS HAPPENING my friend please xplain this amazing story
why is the fastest growing major economy for last 10 years losing 10% lol lol

"About 10% of gross domestic product (GDP) in real terms could be permanently lost. So going back to the growth rates seen before the pandemic is unlikely in the next three fiscals."

In the past 69 years, India has seen a recession only thrice – as per available data – in fiscals 1958, 1966 and 1980. The reason was the same each time – a monsoon shock that hit agriculture, then a sizeable part of the economy.”

Ok economics 101: loss is happening because there is no demand , demand requires spending , 120 million out of job cannot generate demand , banks in India have the worst bad debt in the entire world , people out of job are not credit worthy , India is linked to international trade chain, international demand is way down, despite Modi lying out of his *** the package is not with 10 percent of GDP but only 1 percent :.... so demand is either created by the government spending or consumer spending.... both are missing by the grace of Modi.

. . . .
Yet Indian Govt begs for debt write off

going by India’s history and if the recession is hard they begged for the write off and even sold their gold reserves .... you guys have a real short memory and let’s not forget that recession was no where near this recession...

Indian economy can take a backseat for now, current priority should be weathering the Covid crisis

We saw how Indian economy helped over 100 million migrants on roads. People eating dead dogs on street and dying of hunger while sleeping on railway tracks. You must be proud of your economy.
