Qing dynasty conquest of Ming dynasty: China's population dropped from 100 million (late Ming dynasty) to 14 million (Early Qing dynasty)


Hui rebellion in Northwest China:

mostly in two provinces:

Shannxi province:
7 million deaths or 45% population loss

Gansu province:
15 million deaths or 75% population loss


Shaanxi province population dropped from
14 million to 7 million in 1879

Gansu province population dropped from
19.5 million to 4.5 million in 1879

My goodness...I never knew wars in China were so brutal. Sucks that we never learn about these events...history channel is nothing but reality shows nowadays :tsk::tsk:. Did the Hue rebellion happen during the Confucius movement??

Wikipedia has Taiping death toll at 20 million.

If i am not mistaken the qing forces castrated yaqub beg's grandsons. Also is it true that the muslim population in shaanxi and gansu were decimated?

Exaggerations. Ancient era did not have reliable census numbers. Please stop posting garbage.

Those figures are utter nonsense... and totally out of proportion, the world population in 1860 was way below 1.5 billion! . And of course not a single source.
