1 killed as violence erupts in city

To get an excuse of being innocent, to provoke its cadre, to start a riot there are several reasons as they have been rejected by people of Bangladesh in the elections they are doing everything other then peaceful and democratic protest.

Your own admission.

Now its proven beyond doubt that your post is due to political affiliations.

Did you know the Awami League has done far worse before under the BNP administration?

The reason why the were going to lose the elections is because people were fed up with Tarek Zia.

How can you be so certain that they are lying when sitting behind a computer in another country? Are you telling us how to run our own country?

And if you are assuming that the current government is popular among Bangladeshis now, then you are very mistaken.

I suggest you do some research before posting.

Police: Crude bomb kills 1 in Bangladesh capital in clashes between police and protesters

DHAKA, Bangladesh — A series of crude bombs went off in the Bangladeshi capital Sunday during clashes with police and opposition activists, killing at least one person and injuring another two, police and news reports said.

The death was reported in Dhaka’s central Motijheel commercial district, local police official Bazlul Rashid said. He said the victim seemed to have carrying the homemade bomb — explosives filled in tin pot.

The violence erupted after baton-wielding police dispersed thousands of opposition activists trying to rally to mark the country’s 40th independence anniversary.

At least five vehicles, including a police jeep, were set on fire in central Dhaka during Sunday’s violence, United News of Bangladesh news agency reported.

Police intervened after some stone-throwing activists attacked vehicles and set some of them to fire, senior police official Masudur Rahman said.

Rahman said the protesters were from the main opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party and its Islamist ally Jamaat-e-Islami.

Television footage showed police chasing dozens of stone-throwing protesters.

Private television station ATN News reported that at least 15 homemade bombs exploded in parts of the city during the violence.

Sunday’s opposition rally was called to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Bangladesh’s independence from Pakistan. Until the independence in 1971 Bangladesh was the eastern wing of Pakistan.

1 hour before this bomb attack my friends fell victim of brutal police attack without any provocation. It looked liked policemen were ordered to create anarchy and the bomb blast was pre planned..... I wrote about it in the morning before it came out in the media in another thread. Most probably Abir saw it. We student wing of BNP had invitations from central to attend the programme peacefully... According to my roommate, they were attacked just after leaving the rickshaw from front and back by police. They had to run a fair distance and took shelter in a house. They all returned with abrasions and bandage.... Thanks God i chose to attend my classes instead of going there....

you guys need to forget little difference and form solid unity with Islami Shibir. This is only way to counter dalal league and it's dalal police. If you guys stand firm with nare takbir Allahu Akbar then you will see how the cowards run for their life.

Well if one scrutinizes the incidents its quite evident
that someone staged it , apparently some AL hooligans
even went further by harassing the veteran freedom fighters.

BNP as a party do not usually does such a thing which leaves
two branches. Either its Awami League or Shibir. Both of the later
mentioned parties have enough reasons (insert hooliganism) to stage
such a mind blowing failure of a firework.

BNP nationwide demo Monday

Dhaka, Dec 18 (bdnews24.com) — The opposition BNP will hold demonstrations on Monday in all divisional headquarters, including the capital, in protest against Sunday's 'attacks and torture on party members'.

"The government attacked our members to foil the freedom fighters' assembly. Three hundred members and leaders were arrested," an agitated Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir told the press on Sunday evening.

"Awami League's goons set on fire buses at Motijheel, Naya Paltan, Press Club and Kakrail. Police and the goons were let loose on our men," he said after a meeting of the party's standing committee.

He said the opposition would organise a protest march in place of victory procession, as scheduled earlier, on Monday.

Similar protests would also be held across the nation at all divisional headquarters, he added.

Fakhrul decried the 'government action' and demanded immediate release of the arrested and punishment to those responsible for the attacks.

At least seven hand bombs exploded in the city and six vehicles were torched in Dhaka, Sylhet and Sirajganj ahead of an opposition programme in the capital. The incidents have left two dead – one each in Dhaka and Sylhet – while several others were injured.

BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia called an emergency meeting of the party's National Standing Committee immediately after the incidents on Sunday.

We can expect more ahead, perhaps more violent and destructive. BNP will need the support of Jamat-Shibir. What ever it takes to oust these dalals will be appreciated.

This is Bangladesh inter matter and indians should stay out of it and not interfere. Instead indians should concentrate its own inter problem with maoists, dalits and others.
