FAISALABAD: More than 1.2 million children under the age of five will be administered vaccines in an anti-polio campaign from January 20 to January 22 in the district.

Chairing a meeting of the Polio Eradication Committee, District Coordination Officer (DCO) Noorul Amin Mengal said 2,762 Health Department teams would participate in the campaign. “2,243 of these will run a door-to-door campaign.”

He said 289 union council monitoring officers and 458 area incharges had been deputed to supervise the campaign.

The DCO directed the Health Department officials to implement a micro plan of the campaign in letter and spirit.

He said, “Each and every child under the age of five should be administered polio drops.”

He said January 23 and January 24 would be utilised to vaccinate children left out in the campaign.

He said the teams should cover railways stations, bus stands, markets and other public places. Mengal radio programmes, cable network and banners should be used to spread awareness.

He directed the officials to set up a polio control room at his office where complaints could be filed.

“Daily meetings will also be held for reviewing the performance of the health department during the campaign,” he added.
