Interesting that an additional Indian conventional sub (not just INS Sindhurakshak) has been damaged. This is a serious loss in an already under-strength Indian submarine force.
How many years until the 6 Scorpene replacements for India's submarine service come on stream?
Thanks for the information Captain Popeye the commonality with civilian 737s is a big plus. Yes I also gained the impression that many of the judgements were from someone who preferred the good old days of the prop driven Orion.

Good news. But the following from gps3333's Nav Log [ as a newby I cannot yet publish website strings ] is a cautionary tale (date unknown) which still may be relevant to India's first P-8I :
Report: Navy's P-8 Aircraft Plagued with Problems; Deployment in Doubt
Received from a former P-3...
Also its relevant the article says "IAF will get first prototype"
This "prototype" by 2014 or 2015 may just carry the most obvious stealth feature which is the shape of the airframe.
What was missing from the initial T-50 (FGFA also called PAK-FA) was the advanced engine, stealthy avionics and...
I think under India's democratic system the Indian military (and DRDO) need to advertise their weapons to ensure a constant flow of public funding for the defence (including DRDO) budget.
Under China's system gaining funding is a more internal (one) Party and military bureaucratic issue with no...
My hunch is that 12 - 8 may be the eventual fixed wing mix but initially there may be more than 12 MIG-29Ks (a more "mature" design and use) but with some N-LCA on a trial-development basis for several years.
Also DRDO likes to put out regular Press Releases-Newspaper Articles (often carrying little of substance) to justify its high budgets for very long term weapons projects.
"weapon of peace" is a curious juxtaposition. If by peace the article means the mutually assured destruction (MAD) of the Agni V's main target, which is China, then MAD is a type of peace keeper.
