If the collective West / US criticize him and shine a negative light on Philippines newly elected president then that should give it away immediately that he has the best interest of his country and people at heart and is someone China should stand behind and work together with.

I would like to see a smoke-free China too, if possible. Perhaps China and Philippines can corporate in this area to eliminate this social ill for good.
China needs to reinvent its social etiquette. It seems lots of folks in China are behind when it comes to social norms and behavior, many think its totally fine to squat on the sidewalk to sh*t or p*ss, not to mention spitting everywhere -- and then they take this behavior overseas as tourists...
Doesn't really matter, reality is no one can really force China to the decisions of the tribunal which China is not a participant of... Nothing of that sort will happen.
Worst case scenario it passes, the US media puts China on blast yada yada yada, and then what?

True, American (white) male tourist and expats have a reputation of exploiting and using Filipino children....in very illegal ways.
They are putting all their hopes and dreams on the mutual defense treaty with the US. Philippines is confident that if the arbitration goes their way, the US will help them enforce their claims, even going full scale war with China if that's what it will come to, for the pinoy cause.
