Fighters generally have X band AESA radars. S and L bands are more favoured by non-US AWACS and surveillance radar platforms. Thus I would contend that the said development may be for the DRDO AWACS but not for LCA. The recent RFI by DRDO for T/R modules for an AESA radar program for LCA seems...
wrt nos of single/twin configs, here is a link to a 2009 article. I am afraid I do not have the link to the original article which had cited the RFP and was from a vendor. It may have been removed due to confidentiality clauses, etc....

You have put in a lot of effort to get all this information together. Great work buddy. I am just chipping in with any info possible :).
Keep up the good work!
To be frank with you, I don't see AMCA coming in any numbers before 2030. IAF never said that MMRCA was a replacement for mig-21's. Media has always cited MMRCA as a requirement which stems from LCA delays and mig retirements. This may have been the case initially but has changed dramatically...
I feel this "parallel" development is essentially a means to keep the MMRCA program viable. Though RFP requirements stated AESA, most companies are still developing the same and thus IAF wants to mitigate the risks by hedging against any vendor failing to come up with the said system in time...

A friend of mine sent me this scan about the topic you talked of. I am sending the relevant portion....
There was another news article of RFI being sent for AESA T/R components for integration in india for LCA. I have no information about the status. It...
It should be noted that this is the RLV-TD (technology demonstrator) which is going to be smaller scaled design of the actual bird.
With all this discussion seemingly going nowhere, I would like to say that though I agree that many dates seem to slip, it does not really matter as the programs...
Suman Sharma is reporting that the shivalik has been handed over to the Indian Navy :)

All set for April 15th commissioning :)
It is interesting to note that all the talk and hoopla of Surya ended in 1998. The last report citing the same was a report by US institute of foreign policy analysis. If you ask me, this was an imaginary system contrived by the US agencies to keep US BMD funding going. A 1997 US missile defence...
dunno if this was reported in the news thread......

Can't imagine how complex the new seeker in blk 2 will be like!!
here is the barak 8 pic from paris last year:
another one:
compared to barak (used by IN for point defence):
It would seem that barak 8 ER should have a range > 70km :)
wonderful news indeed. I just hope that they are able to get these birds inducted in numbers post 2015.
At the same time, I believe Ka-52 is a good option for IAF (more than the RFP of 22 being talked about). The twin seat monster already has many IAI inputs (thanks to the turkish...
The major difference is wrt weapon systems but there are also many internal changes. Kolkata class ships have better sub-systems and the most important change should be seen with the new MF-STAR radar (primary radar). kolkata typically has twice the missile loadout when compared with the...
This is what I said:
Which means one and the same! Marlin was supposed to be an option with same technologies being used on the scorpene. The upgrades over scorpene are NOT substantial. IMO, PN will go for both western and chinese subs. The issue is "which" western sub. If IN decides to...
