    Chumik Operation 1989

I would bring in PA units to take over defensive duties and use Gilgit Scouts and FCNA as well as special PA units for offensive operations. I agree about this being an airborne affair with heavy heli usage. I think by major artillery and airstrikes, triggering multiple avalanches, you'd have...

Osama Bin Laden 'SHAHEED'? PM Imran Khan Speech in National Assembly

The US was asked for evidence to prove that Ossama was responsible - but they refused to show their evidence, claiming its classified. But it seems Muslims today are ashamed of themselves and don't even need evidence to blame their own and have them executed without charge.

JF-17 Thunder Multirole Fighter [Thread 7]

No, not possible due to costs, resources and time for development vs benefit. In addition, the aircraft doesn't have a powerful enough engine, which would be needed given that such a change will increase the weight. What we can do is build an Azm which has that kind of engine if PAF so chose.

    Chumik Operation 1989

I think a careful study can be done, if things heat up with airstrikes and artillery, and the house comes down, who will be worse off? And if there will be an opening for airborne assault after that. Since PAF can be expected to maintain air superiority over Siachen, who will benefit from the...

That unfortunately is the truth. By the way, Zardari is not only a thug but a murderer. Ask him in private, he will admit it.

Rumors: Pakistan to acquire five C-130J Super Hercules

They do. Because of US Army - USAF politics. USAF doesn't care about tactical airlift capability below C-130J. US Army has made a big deal about it. PAF would have done a favour to USAF by taking them off their hands. USAF is looking at its global force projection capability and least interested...

    Chumik Operation 1989

I've discussed a wider contingency plan in various thread. But I'm sure the PA plans are not based on a Bangladeshi's ramblings on PDF : )

    Chumik Operation 1989

I actually agree and had a similar conversation somewhere with @PanzerKiel that the AF would be needed. I think it could be part of a "cold start" where Pakistan preempts an Indian attack. Simultaneously, there could be operations in other sectors as well. Basically this will lead to a war in...

Featured Project Azm: Pakistan's Ambitious Quest to Develop 5th Generation Military Technologies.

Guess we will find out eventually. My money is on the horse that says iterative evolution rather than revolutionary change (point 2 on the four possibilities I outlined).

Featured Project Azm: Pakistan's Ambitious Quest to Develop 5th Generation Military Technologies.

The key word I used is "layout". I think if route 2 is chosen from my above choices, a lot of subsystems can be used from the JF-17, and a lot of the construction technologies learned and implemented on the JF-17 can also go into the Azm. So for me, I see Azm as a continuation of an indigenous...

    Chumik Operation 1989

@Signalian since a war in Siachen won't actually count for a war (as there is no LOC), this may be a Pakistani version of a "cold start" to go into Siachen. In a full scale war, of course there are better avenues but one cannot repeat a Kargil on the CFL.

Rumors: Pakistan to acquire five C-130J Super Hercules

Let's see if the C-130Js do end up in Pakistan. Hope but nothing is for certain. @Tipu7 C-27Js would have been available from the Boneyard. Brand new or nearly brand new. As EDA... and basically for pennies to the CSF. Would have met a large number of the requirements. And would have arrived...

Twin Engined J-10? What Happened to it

By JF-17 based layout I mean a conventional layout very broadly similar to JF-17 / F-16 (Rather than say the J-10, J-20, Rafale, etc). Single engine, conventional layout.

Rumors: Pakistan to acquire five C-130J Super Hercules

Rejecting things are easy. We can just make up as many categories we want. But CN-235 cannot be bought with US funds. Meaning Pakistan would have to pay for them with hard currency. Is that even meaningful in the current situation? There is a huge amount of CSF just left unused. Seems either...

Pakistan National Assembly rejects Bill to allow non-Muslims to become country’s President, PM

They will never be happy with you until you give up all your religion. To all those wanting to bend over your values, this is a slippery slope. We are not hypocrites that say one thing and mean another. Do you think a Muslim would become a the leader of a Western country or India? Never. But...

Rumors: Pakistan to acquire five C-130J Super Hercules

Actually the C-27J can lift a lot more than 50% of the C-130H: C-130H: Capacity: 19000 kg C-27J: Capacity: 11,600 kg (61%) Sometimes life is not perfect and what you want, you may not get. The US was stalling C-130J for Pakistan for quite a long time. So, the logical action should have been to...

Rumors: Pakistan to acquire five C-130J Super Hercules

Basically, brand new aircraft, or barely used aircraft at bargain basement prices. Would fulfill 90% of the in country tasks of the C-130s. And... PAF just passed it over. Could have been available many years ago... By now, PAF would have a solid transport fleet. Opportunity missed... New...
