Correct, and in current times Pakistan went against US dictation vis a vis Afghanistan and India hence it doesn't matter how much hard cash we have today US would not sell us what we want.
Just to be clear, I am not blaming either side for anything just stating that it wasn't about money.
In the past even the cold hard cash didn't give us what we wanted ($658 million in 1989 for F16s).
US is not Russia who would sell you anything just because you show funds. $800 million don't mean much to US, after all.
I am sure that you would try to pin it again on Pakistan but the fact is...
I said this back when it actually happened but most people only blamed US. While US isn't a saint however our own people run the show here and there is a limit to what US can do vis a vis other countries.
It has a background to it not so simple as some people would like to believe. Pentagon was pleading ISI to take actions against Al qaida 3 months before 9/11 however delayed tactics from ISI prompted US to be very direct with Pakistan after 9/11. Pre 9/11 things were different, post 9/11 you had...
Such claims become hilarious at times and ridiculous most of the times. This seems like an attempt to discredit someone without attacking their narrative/ideology. This should stop.
Based on certain facts that US didn't allow engine for ATAK helicopters. We were denied CBU105 in past, the story of drones is well known to everyone. Pakistan would have gotten V kits if they were available as well.
You are in denial or too stubborn to accept that Pakistan and US are at not...
Good statement and i have noticed that many historians and authors have openly accepted the wrongdoings West Pakistan (or Elites) did against then East Pakistan. We should never forget this chapter of history and it should be a warning to coming generations that those blunders and discriminatory...
As pointed out by SQ8, people who do not understand the basic concept of PLM, supply chain management, implicit and explicit costs linked with acquisition of new technology or machine (J10s etc.) are the ones who are against the acquisition of F16s.
There is underlying concern from critiques...
Entirely different debate. My point was in contention to what you said and i stand by my earlier comment that even if we put money in hard cash, we aren't going to get new F16 blk 70/72 because this isn't simply about money.
