Air Forces Monthly - summary of updates to JF-17

Unlikely that that is the key reason. Even a PD radar also generates a lot of heat. I think it's just the IR glow from the fuselage and the blocked view. Again, I am speculating since I don't know these things.

Air Forces Monthly - summary of updates to JF-17

Honestly, I don't know. If I think about maybe the problem is this?: Basically a chin-mounted IRST will have little to no ability to look up and even looking straight would have a lot of its FOV covered by the jet itself, which I presume radiates a lot of IR.

Air Forces Monthly - summary of updates to JF-17

In my opinion "enlarged nose" probably just refers to slight reshaping of the radome because we are unable to spot anything obvious. So I doubt there's any extra room for anything. As for podded solution, I believe the article is arguing that (at least according to potential customers) those...

Air Forces Monthly - summary of updates to JF-17

I would hope so too but looking at the article I am not too sure. On the other hand we have received official information that the JF-17 is what two feet tall?lol

Ideas to improve R&D in Pakistan

Apkay moon main ghee shakar mithai halwa or siwaiyan. I got mine in the US. The system here is very different and built on trust of the universities, departments, and professors. So really not even the university, not even the department, but my advisor decided what I needed to finish my PhD. I...

Ideas to improve R&D in Pakistan

I didn't get a PhD in Pakistan so I am welcome to be corrected but I believe HEC has a requirement that a "foreign" academic must review and approve of your dissertation. Actually checked right now: https://www.hec.gov.pk/english/services/faculty/Plagiarism/Documents/HEC-PhD-Policy.pdf So...

Air Forces Monthly - summary of updates to JF-17

There's an important question about the author that I don't know the answer to. Who is Sqd Ldr (Ret) Fahad Masood? I mean he retired as a Sqd Ldr so presumably has been out of the PAF for a while. So what reason do we have to think that any of the things in the article are official? Maybe the...

Air Forces Monthly - summary of updates to JF-17

Nope. All I can say is that I do have some subject matter knowledge and the issue clearly has nothing to do with the software communication layer. PAC was worried enough to reach out to experts outside of PAC. But like I said, I'm just a guy on the web and it's probably better everybody treats...

Air Forces Monthly - summary of updates to JF-17

All other things being equal, a Ra'ad launched from 30k feet will be able to fly further than a Ra'ad launched from 10k feet.

Air Forces Monthly - summary of updates to JF-17

Basically this: The aircraft is constantly computing a whole bunch of conditions (altitude, speed, heading) where you can release the missile and still have it be able to hit the target. As long as you are within those parameters the missile hits the target.

Air Forces Monthly - summary of updates to JF-17

Yes, that is what I suspect has happened. Total surprise. I talked to a bunch of guys inside places and they had no idea about this. So either this is super secret or it's an off-the-cuff remark by some official taken as existence of a program.

Air Forces Monthly - summary of updates to JF-17

@Bratva @Bilal. @HRK @Goritoes I wanted to set the record straight on the whole Ra'ad situation. Keep in mind I am human and can/will make mistakes. 1. Back in 2016 I wrote an article on Ra'ad 1 on PDF that argued that JF-17 was unable to carry the Ra'ad 1 either on centerline or wing pylon...

Ideas to improve R&D in Pakistan

I'm not disagreeing with your intent. I am arguing you need to work on fundamentals before you try to do the fancy things. You can sink billions of dollars into attracting startups and setting up funds but if a corporate case will last more than your lifetime and you will be hounded by 30...

Ideas to improve R&D in Pakistan

Doesn't work that way. The state is responsible for everyone not just the 0.01%. The state can't ignore 99.99% of the population. They need food they need healthcare they need education they need housing. And when your already tiny pie is divided into so many mouths very little (if anything)...

Pakistan considering Afghans to be allowed entry without visas

Sounds like something the Talibs have asked for in exchange for backing the fence.

I stand corrected. I believe other people have suggested kickstarting industrialization this way as well. To that I say that Israel is probably the worst country to compare Pakistan to or learn lessons from - they are just on the opposite end of almost all human development indicators and...

Ideas to improve R&D in Pakistan

The point of the internship isn't to create IP directly. The point is to give students a foot in the door of some industry. This facilitates employment. Here in the west you often end up working for whoever you intern with. And yes when I said coop like Canada I meant paid internship that lasts...

Ideas to improve R&D in Pakistan

Even well intentioned people cannot do their jobs because that will require them to go against the elite which are in control. So when things get SO bad that the elites start to hurt and realize they need to do right by Pakistan then these ministries will do their job. Or if things get so bad...
