All India needs to do is make the costs apparent to the Chinese.

If China or Pakistan wants CPEC to be successful, it needs to ensure that neighbors with a bone to pick dont throw roadblocks. Or form alliances on the various outstanding issues it has with its neighbors.
I'm not saying this will happen, it may or may not. It all depends on a mutual respect for each others core interests.
You mess with others constantly and suddenly all the goodwill goes down the drain.

China already has deep market access to the indian markets and imposing any cost will result in a heavy backlash from your own businessmen and consumers. not gonna happen!

Importing from China is a 'necessary evil'. 'Necessary' because of Indian govt's policies so far. That can always change once policy initiatives are taken.

what can you POSSIBLY do against CPEC? What can you at all do against CPEC? What're you gonna do? send it terrorists to blow up roads and crap like that? well you tried and miserably failed so scratch that idea. What else? militarily there isn't a god damned thing you can do so scratch that option. chabahar is a joke so scratch that option as well. What else? what're you gonna do? impose tariffs or taxes on companies doing business through CPEC? can't do that either since its illegal and will ultimately hurt you more than anyone so what else? At best, you can just summon the Chinese and Pakistani counsel generals and make a frowny face at them! :lol:

Take all the five veto powers for all we care. lol. You couldn't do jack with your UNSC resolutions when India was nowhere close the economic and military power it is today.

Quit overestimating your worth. Big powers don't change policies because of something as trivial as the UNSC.

UN and all are important for puny countries like Pakistan and Burkina Faso.

Strong, powerful, and big countries don't give jack about the UNSC, whether it is Iran, Israel, or India.

there is no such thing as a "patriotic" businessman. you need to wake up. remember, that a businessman does not give a crap about how much he will make in the future if he can make that much NOW. And by partnering with Chinese companies and/or importing from China, they can achieve that NOW so that throws "make in india" down the toilets.

And besides, it will take you at minimum, another 30 years if not more to catch up to China's industrial manufacturing and research capacity. no businessman wants to wait that long especially when there are other more short term and effective ways of making the same kind of profits. the indian businessman is no different!

lol India is not a global player where as Pakistan is so there is a different approach towards both. Indians are viewed as a big budget military nation with less military capability but Pakistan is viewed as a decisive force with a capability of changing the game. I think that is the very reason Russians are shifting towards Pakistan but you have a right to cry where ever you want but you need to make Modi cry louder because people are not listening to it very much.

indian demonetization would little more than an annoyance for China if that, at best it'll look at it, shrug and move on. its not like China (or anyone in the world for that matter) is hoarding indian currency. but what it would do to your own economy, well, you can imagine that yourself.

Last I checked, Pakistan can't even play sports on its own soil.

Remember Russia allied with you because Pakistan was US ally and Now India is US ally so Russia is changing the path simple. About the defense India needs Russia not the Russians need India. In defense the supplier has the upper hand for decades to come as the buyer will always require parts and shifting to an entirely new system is not cheap so take the need thoughts out of your mind.

Make in India thing just started under Modi. A country doesn't become a manufacturing hub overnight. It took China decades to be where it's at and everyone in the world considered it very fast growth. Even if we assume that exact fast pace for India it will still take India a while to be able to fully make everything on its own. Until then u need China(for import) just as much as China needs u(for export).

I know reality is bitter but a US think tank reported that there are more chances that Trump will have better ties with Pakistan than India as Trump likes white people more so he would prefer Nawaz Sharif who is white over Modi who is black.
