I am not surprised. Since the economy opened up, the private sector has been able to offer a better deal than the govt could ever have. Indian forces have been facing shortage of officers ever since. Army is short of about 12K, Air Force about 3K and Navy about 1K.
There is nothing wrong in this. Busy airports can see more than one takeoffs and landing on the same runway with the minute. So this appears to be far from being dangerous. Sensational journalism IMO.
