Pakistani government’s sudden action to arrest and detain Jammat-ud-Dawwah’s founder leader Hafiz Saeed along with his four party members has been reported worldwide, as a breaking development, and has lead to all kinds of speculations.
An aide of Hafiz Saeed has claimed that Hafiz has been arrested under the US pressure, as reported by BBC.

Has Hafiz been arrested under specific US demands?
Has China demanded action against Hafiz Saeed?
Implications of Arrest for Pakistan?
What were Pakistan’s real options?

I don't get why Pakistanis are getting upset with this news? Be it US pressure or worry over India's capability to do a surgical strike, you arrested a known terrorist who's involvement in terror attacks in South Asia is quite apparent.

Its so obvious.

HS has been ' arrested' for the show window, once the heat cools down he will yet again be let off due to ' insufficient evidence'. This is something HS too must be aware of & he's been asked to ' Kindly adjust'.

Its a very bad pressure from US. It can radicalize the followers of Hafiz Saeed.

Our politicians are under immense pressure as threat of sanctions directly affects them and their mass assets in West.

Hence this action to please their masters.

Has Hafiz been arrested under specific US demands? -YES
Has China demanded action against Hafiz Saeed?- NO, else why woud they defend him in UN
Implications of Arrest for Pakistan?- Shows America is bigger daddy than china and weilds bigger stick
What were Pakistan’s real options? - Keep him in arrest, dismantle his organization and never allow such a pointless embarrassment to happen again

China should have given Pakistan enough confidence and backing not to budge under American pressure.

Or China parted away silently and left Pakistan in cold feet ?

He must have threatened an immigration ban. You think Pak wants to be seen in that list? Knowing trump he'll do it too.

clamping down on terrorists is always good idea -- otherwise today they are your lap dogs tomorrow they are someone elses!

Ratio of blunders against wise decisions are very high as far as performance of our establishment is concerned. Just add Handling of HS in the feathers of their cap and move on.

Yes. Which is why we gave up our nuclear ambitions and programme because of US pressure........no wait that was Iran.
that time was different. US needed us at that time. they gave us the best fighter jets in the world at that time. so they also closed their eyes regarding pak nuclear ambitions. there are reports that US also didnt support the israeli plans to destroy pak nuclear facilities. the moment their job was done they turned their backs on pak and imposed sanctions. history was repeated after 9/11.

I think few corrupt leaders are to blame.
i dont think only few leaders are to be blamed. all pakistani political and military leaders treat US as their boss. US orders, threats etc become our state policies.

There was no pressure. Establishment had long decided LET is a relic from 90s causing more harm than good and many agree with this. LeT based proxy war is not sustainable in present landscape.
