Hyundai Heavy Industries To Build Two 2,600 Ton Frigates For Philippine Navy

Main differences:
at 0-deck, whole above deck structure appears farther back
smaller main gun (no penetration of 0-deck > more below 0-deck free space forward)
single rather than pair of Mk41 sized VLS (length lost: 2.6m?)
smaller deck area between superstructure and VLS (length lost: another 4.4m?)
no GTUs hence simpler single stack arrangement

Do you reckon the $168m per ship price tag is all inclusive (of the hull, propulsion and onboard electronics and weapons)?
No. The Incheons Batch 1 cost $232 million a pop.

Quit the chit chat.Romania is in the market for 4 corvettes. What are the specs for the Korean ships ? Anything less than 16 VLS is redundant for the Black Sea but at 650 million $ it sure beats 1.1 billion $ for 4 Gowinds.
For the Phillipine ships:
Dimensions and range: discussed and posted.
Sensors: tbd
Armament:
Aircraft carried: Super Lynx or AW159

Thank you.Not to bad,all of this at almost half the price of a Gowind.
IF all systems are included in that price.
\
You might also see 'fitted for but not with' and eventual installation of weapons capabilities (we saw this happen eg with Thai F25T ships from China)

For the Phillipine ships:
Dimensions and range: discussed and posted.
Sensors: tbd
Armament:
Aircraft carried: Super Lynx or AW159
Armaments:
ECM
SENSORS
  • 1x navigation radar (atop bridge)
  • 1x Thales STIR 1.2 EO Mk2 dual I/K-band tracking and illumination radar (can support ESSM)
  • 1x navigation radar (front of mast) or LPI surface search radar
  • 1x 280 km Thales NS-100 or 400km Thales NS200 naval multi-mission 4D dual-axis multi-beam AESA S-band radar (top of mast)*
  • 1x ESM, possibly Thales DR-3000 (mainmast top)
  • 1x Satcom (rear mast)
1x Lightweight, compact, electro-optical multi-sensor, possibly Thales Mirador or MSI SEAHAWK EOFCS .
*The system can be delivered with integrated Scout LPI X-band surface surveillance radar and an IFF Interrogator.

@Penguin hey sir do you think that this is possibly directed towards us , watching recent statements of their president , does the phlilapimo, sorry for wrong spell , know in eventual scs war China will win and it's adjusting it's alliance well and this China will give it access to scs ?

No, nothing to to with US (they've opted for western style ship with western arms and sensors from South Korea, which is a US ally. Phillippines has a long long standing tradition of naval neglect. It is about time they get some new ships. Too many years with WW2 era ships.

War? China wins? > That's a lot of speculation right there.

PN are going to use it against USN. :enjoy:

They are not there to dent chinese forces. They are there so that chinese forces must physically remove them if they wish to move in freely in certain areas i.e. to act openly as agressor.

You really think RoK would facilitate use against USN? That would mean the end of their cooperation with many Western defence companies - including Thales - and that would affect RoKN building programs.

That's the thing that got me , they have openly spoken against us , said they don't need us, etc etc yet still opt for ships from Korea , seems strange

The US doesn't have ships in this weight class to offer, just derivatives of the 4,000 ton Freedom class LCS or - perhaps - a derivative of the 4,500 ton USCG National Security Cutter (Patrol Frigate 4501, Patrol Frigate 4921). Which can be considered overly expensive and too large.

Iwhy would they do that??
Dont act blur. Philippine regard US as hostile. The real evil is US. Meddling in Pinoy self government and while suppressing the progress of Philippine modernisation.

Duturte say US president is son of a whore. Got it? :enjoy:
