UPDATE: Both sides hold service. 1 -1 in 2nd set

Venus looks a bit tired to be honest.

Sometimes luck of the draw is like that.

One of our best boxers unfortunately had to meet a cuban gold medallist in the first round itself
Ram gopal verma did great came back

OK job 1 done, service held by India....now India need a break

US holds service and its 5 -2. Gonna be tough for India to get 2nd set now

Match going for Tie breaker..

USA has the momentum..

More prayers, finger crossed.. Tie breaker ON.

OK, India didnt waste much more time in this set.

Time for a tiebreaker...India got to put it behind and play hard this one

India get the lead 2 -0

3 -1 now....could have been 4-0 without that silly dbl fault by bopanna

3 - 3 :hitwall:

India gonna lose this now....%$#

India didn't hold their nerve and lost it badly in the end after coming out strongly at start ....oh well they will play for bronze medal next.

dramatic change after first set.. bad luck India

can they still have chance to win bronze medal?

Yes they have a good solid chance to win bronze I think. They need to go in all guns blazing and take it in straight sets....otherwise pressure seems to get to them.

that guy is nut case. i was referring about SAI officers. suddenly he jumped in... started advocating on behalf of BJP ... lol... I referred to Hayrana minister.. who is talking about participants from his state...Why not About Every Indian athletes... nothing wrong in my post.. why do we need to think about South north, Haryanvi or Andhra... they are representing to entire nation...

I guess wrestling, tennis, Boxing and gymnastics ( slim chances but lets hope best).. If Susheel been to Rio... i can be sure but yadav..

u forgot about bedminton.....saina and sindu are world class players.

tennis seems like a lost cause. .....lets hope someone pull a miracle

More than physical we need mental preparations.....can't seem to hold onto nerves at last moments......

yes sure but first step would be changing the mindset of people so that they take all these different sports seriously ..They should introduce all these sports from school age etc

India claim to be major economy and should have no excuse of lack of investment in sports and providing proper infrastructure

This is a tough one. It will take time and the initiatives by central/local governmental, financial resource and consistent effort to implement. At this time, significantly reducing the drop-out rate of primary education is the first priority, then the quality of primary education should be improved to the world average. The sports culture will come later.

There is a new education policy that specifically focuses on the local infra, teacher training and teacher absenteeism. They are bringing a real time monitoring framework in giving each school a sort of rating system so the problem schools can be fixed. We will have to see how it is implemented this year and the next....but the fact they are actually putting some competent ministers and bureaucrats who seem to care gives me hope (just judging by the depth of the papers I read that they have released compared to the previous administration which gave targets but did not flesh out any details much less appoint competent administrators).

To be honest, India never lacks plans, it lacks the implementation of plans. I hope the new policy will have the impact on ground reality. Best Wishes!
