China’s Worst Nightmare: Is a U.S.- India Military Alliance Brewing?

Note the differences in the nature of activities carried out by other nations. China does not seem to care just so long as the other country does not establish a long-term presence in the area or interfere with its plans to construct more infrastructure. India's military exercise fits the above bill.

Wrong.

China has issue with even presence of any power in south china sea. And yes, we are all set to have a permenent interest in south china sea including oil exploration. Let us see how china reacts? I have not seen china reacting so weakly anytime in past. I think that chinese offensive power is shrinking very fast with its shrinking economy. China is becoming am impotent lion to whom hyna will beat. it will just protest and try to save itself rather than attack out right. CHina days seem to be over even before they started.

Any nation has issues with any power that threatens its interests. Hence, detainment of Chinese fishing vessels, construction of islands, and related activities by other powers do instigate responses from Beijing. Take note that these activities are characteristics of countries that share a coastline with the SCS; these maneuvers are recurrent, long-term, and they ultimately interfere with Beijing's ambition of expanding its sphere of influence in that region.

India's military exercise, on the other hand, achieves none of the aforementioned.

No its your surmises.

We have an interest in the region. We are exploring the oil with our allies to which china illegitimately opposes. More over we need to convey china that you are not a boss and your hegemony is not acceptable. We denounce your acting as the regional or world power. Any mischief or illegal act of china will be dealt sticktly. The massage was required to be conveyed and it is conveyed now.

haha, you indians think too high of yourself. There is only 3 players on world stage: China, US and Russia, and no place for India. Last time China cooperated with US to disintergrated USSR, now it is China and Russia to take down US.

We will be happy if US and India form alliance. Your track record approves india can only be a liability rather than assets for US, just like what Italy did to Germany in world war two. Hence comes the saying: you don't worry your opponent as fierce as a wolf, but fear that your team mate as incompetent as a pig.

That is not a good sign for us.

A weak China means that US would come for us with biggest hatchet that it has got in its closet as we are next; and it would also means that we would not be able to extract concessions from USA in bilateral treaties.

I want China to remain strong, yet weak enough that it does not pull insurmountable lead over India.

If a Republican hawk wins in the coming elections, the Indo-US relationship will reach new heights with two right wingers keen on developing relationship.
Do we have a thread running on Israeli defense minister's resignation?

No it is both way. We too can park our warship at US port. However, there was a news that to sink one US aircraft career, china will have to sacrifise 40% of its navy. this means to counter 2 aircraft careers of US, china will have to sacrifise whole of its navy. It will be nice to see couple of aircraft careers petroling South china sea along with some deadly indian warships equiped with Brahmos and LRSAMs. China will issue hollow warning without any action. Poor PLA will be humiliated in front of whole world. Very enjoyable scenario.

This was from a few years ago - I suppose that China can now sink 2 US aircraft carriers with the loss of 40% of it's Navy.
Time is on China's side and soon the US Navy will be pushed out of East Asian waters for good.

No this is just an assessment of not more than 1 to one and half year. Do you think that Chinese naval might has risen 2 fold in this period and US strength has remained unchanged during that period?

You think like a chinese.

Chinese economy and military growth is faster than US, as the US is already at the top and has no chance for "catch-up" growth anymore.

It does not matter whether China will lose 40% of it's Navy in confronting 1 US carrier group now, as like I said before time is on China's side. China is in East Asia and can bring the full might of it's Navy and air-force against US whose main forces are located on the other side of the Pacific.
