What's new

Software Engineers Thread.

objective-c and swift are used for apple systems

java is used for android devices

c# is used for windows phones.

websites are either in php or asp

when it comes to operating system's like windows 7, linux based os's and macs you can us their respective languages but developers usually prefer one language. but mostly os's don't typically allow it. but there are way of getting around it.

i have done a msc in cs and nearly finished my phd.

Informatica has a lot of products I think, I know only about Powercenter. It's an ETL tool. I have never worked on that , but there is a close friend of mine who does. I will talk to him and get back to you.
So far as ETL is concerned, I will also recommend Talend.

For Bigdata, you can always look into Hadoop implementation. It's a robust platform with easy integration available. Lot of books around. I recommend this. It will be boring to start with, but will be helpful to understand how it internally works.
Hadoop: The Definitive Guide
You can buy it on Kindle.
Cloudera also provides training and certification on Hadoop.

I know in India

Need somebody to do it online, let me know!

Java, C, C++, Matlab, SQL/MySQL, VHDL, Verilog. Not quite so much a software engineering background.

Ada and Python are my go-to languages. Military stuff.

Using LISP as a basis for some in-house stuff too.

Assembly Language, C, C++, Objective C, C#, Java, JavaScript, Android, MATLAB, SQL/MySQL, HTML, CSS.
I should have been in the Pakistan Army as a infantry personal, just my inner instinct.

would your millitary specaility be in unmanned systems ;)

For what would I use ADA? How would LISP or Python tie into such a job? Answering either of those will bring you one step closer to me explicitly offering any clarities... but mostly I'm interested in seeing if you can decipher the use of either language in a military context.

Each has a role, and if I do work with unmanned systems, what roles do they have?
