Iran inks $21 billion deal with Russia to buy satellite equipment, aircraft: Report - The Economic Times

MOSCOW: Iran has signed contracts worth $21 billion to buy satellite equipment and aircraft from Russia, Manouchehr Manteghi, the managing director of Iran Aviation Industries Organization, said in an interview with Russian agency Sputnik on Saturday.

Manteghi said the contracts had been signed at the MAKS-2015 air show in Russia last month.

The contracts involved satellite-related equipment as well as the Sukhoi Superjet 100 regional passenger aircraft, Sputnik said.

Russia and Iran have been working to boost economic ties since Tehran signed a deal with six world powers in July, which offers Iran relief from sanctions in exchange for curbing its nuclear programme.

Russia is very active in signing contracts after sanctions.
This sanction will help Russia in long run.
India should be pro active in Russia as well.

Russian Federation and China are supporting Iran and the recently Russian Equipment to Syria came via Iranian Airspace.

Armenia is part of CSTO and Russian forces are based in Armenia. So its visible regarding the Russian Federation interest in that region.

Iran has vast territory of unexploited and unexplored wealth; it would have been better to invest money into economy rather than "satellite" equipment.

The world and ASIA at large is definitely undergoing strategic shift...Iran, Turkey, Pakistan, Centra Asia , China and Russia have a combined economic future and CPEC will be a mega economic back bone of the region..Indians will become highly distant from local politics and will maintain a pro-US but regionally neutral political outlook...keeping happy trade flowing from all directions...with usual media-wars with China...

The benefits of satellites cannot be denied in development of modern economy..secondly Iran treats its mineral wealth as domestic feed stock of raw materials and therefore they are interested to develop industries around the use of this mineral wealth rather than export them on the cheap..for example..google Qaem Copper Industries.

Russia is on steroids now...

Deal pe Deal..Deal pe Deal.. never ending deals...

Seems like the Iranians are rewarding the Russians in their time of need as the Russians were there for them. I have a
feeling once the Sanctions are removed there will be no real groundbreaking between Iran and the US, there's too much bad blood between them.

The recent news of Russia clearing the S-300 sale to Iran was a sign of the things to come...
