What's new

IMF April 2015 report, India 7th largest economy.

That's the most conservative figure. With 7+ growth already achieved, nominal

Much before that. I am calculating 5trn nominal around 2020-22. And if that happens it would not be coz of Modi but Raghuram Rajan. With strong rupee difference between nominal and ppp will only decrease and with stable real growth, nominal growth will be multifold. Similar to Chinese growth.

Coz their growth is decreasing. No one said negative growth.
For 5 trillion most optimistic figure is 23 or 24 ,not before that.

Not really. If we reach 10% real growth with strengthening of rupee to 55 odd. Is gonna be 5 trn by 2020-22. Go calculate.

Since independence, the Rupee has consistently devalued. I do not see that trend reversed for the short, medium or long term. Also, pretty much all forecasts expect 7-8% growth, not 10%.

10% is a fantasy figure.

India's golden age was under British Rule.

Lol, when India's share of global GDP went from 20-25% down to below 2% (and Britain's share of GDP did the reverse)? Yeah okay....

Britain left India with >90% poverty rates, a legacy it is still fighting today.

And it is still 90%.

And it is still 90%.

See what your British Sahibs have to say.

India is a shithole: Disscuss

Funny thread by your British masters, all taking the piss out of how shit India is. Even more funny, an Indian guy called 'earth' tries and fails to defend India! :omghaha:

Indian poverty is very high, closer to 99%.
Before even clicking on the link i knew it was from the clowns at ARRSE

Lol okay :D

Anyway, thanks for the link- it is certainly very enjoyable to see that level of butthurt! I hope I get to meet a few of those posters in real life....

A little effeminate brown man is no match for a westerner.

It would be difficult to be butt-hurt over India who has a starving and poverty ridden population with an economy smaller than Italy's! In fact, it is India who is butt-hurt over the rise of China. We were at similar levels of GDP and development in the 80s and early 90s, but China has boomed while India has severely lagged behind.

Useless stats , its all linked to dollar value. The moment the currency appreciates GDP will increase. Western countries will try to give you the value they want.
So PPP is more reliable ?

So PPP is more reliable ?
PPP is artificially adjusted on the basis of the following calculation: Purchasing Power Parity - PPP

It is reliable to gauge living standards, poverty rates and gdp per capita. But it is not good for international comparisons or gauging overall economic strength against other countries.

That is why even though China has overtaken the USA in PPP terms, we are still not the worlds No.1 economic power. We have to overtake the USA in Nominal terms to achieve that status. Hopefully by 2030.
