India picks Israel's Spike anti-tank missile over U.S. Javelin: source

im talkin about both economically and military....
the way ur talkin...even Pakistan can counter India...may be it is!!!

what you're talking is about "Surpassing".

there is no way we can counter china.... not even in 4 or 5 decades!!!

what you mean by Counter??? Because right now we've the capability to counter any Chinese adventures.

India is weak or strong????

strong...all this hullaballo about the China bogey is just an eyewash to justify the weapons purchases

a country of over 1.25 billion with largest young population is weak then you are living in fools paradise my friend.

if you think population is the measurement of power then you r the one that living in fools paradise!!! btw having over population is more of a burden than a gift..... in long-term it can cause some issues!!! btw half of the population that your talkin about are living in dire poor!!

nobody likes my words here.... when I say India have dirtiest cities. ..they say im being anti India. ..and should leave India!!!!

Art of war "Appear weak when you are strong, and strong when you are weak".

i prefer the british intelligence during the world's largest working eempire which ran by itself.

good. i'm happy they chose spike.

it will take us 10 years but wee need the first world to invest. inc. europe and japan.

and we don't need a whip at top like china either. that my dear fellas is our advantage.

work hard. work smart.

again you are just showing your pessimist self, the same young population can be used to create world class manufacturing sector, a true world work force a committed government is needed to do this and I am sure our nationalist government is on right path.

They should seriously stop mentioning China in the same breath. That country is too damn rich and too damn self-reliant in defense.
we are not self reliant case we want to, we are this way, cause people won't sell us things. We developed the HJ-12 instead of buying the Spike isn't because of we can do better, it's because we can't buy it.

well Im just speaking the truth!!!
I think India isn't 3 or 4 decades behind in the same way China is to the US. China and US capabilities is about 2 decades in capability or more if it's the navy and air force, but India isn't really behind China right now in CAPABILITY. Navy? Maybe, the Kolkata isn't 052D, the Nuke subs isn't 094, the smaller ships are better, though for different reasons, and maybe a bit lacking in the LPD, but has better carrier operations.

Land forces? Close enough that it doesn't really matter, we got more variants of vehicles support and attacking, as well as more small arms, drones and more, but the difference isn't enough to be America to Iraq, India isn't Iraq and China isn't America.

Space? China is better here, but again, not enough to be too much of a difference.

The difference between China and India isn't capabilities so much as numbers, example, you can buy 20 Globemasters, but you need to be able to make and design in house to have 300. It's also qualities a little bit, though if America is open with F-35 to India than quality is out the window.

a country of over 1.25 billion with largest young population is weak then you are living in fools paradise my friend.
You need to use that population my friend, I'm not saying you can't do it, in fact India can easily do it, but the thing is, you can't do it as easily as we could in 79, reason is simple, there's more competition, and innovation, back then, robotic manufacturing is nothing and rest of the world was even more of a basket case than we were, which is hard at the time.

Right now manufacturing is shifting to less labor intensive ways and the world in ASEAN and Africa as well as Latin America to go with your own South Asia, are seeing the Chinese model and wants a piece of that action.

Though the demand for goods is also up with the advance of the developing world, we will see.

Spike is a PGM with 25 km range!!!1 :woot:
I never got that, why is it so much further than all the others, who's going to see something 20 km away and fire. Seeing as it's way longer, there must be some compromise relative to the Stinger, is it weight? Is it targeting system? Or is it just longer with the exact same thing.

There are several versions of spike, and the one with 25 km range is the spike-ER (extended range), meant to be fired from helicopters. Man portable missiles cannot track that far, unless a UAV or helicopter is providing tracking data.

The missile in comparable role would be India's HELINA, which is also a helicopter mounted, anti armour missile.

The man portable versions of spike are the most value for money, I think. Javelins were a lot more expensive, for only a modest technological advantage.

Senior U.S. officials had said they were still discussing the Javelin order as part of a broader push to deepen defense industry ties with India by increasing the share of production done in the country.

The SPIKE with 25 Km is the NLOS, which also can be added to helicopters, but because of it's higher weight only in limited numbers. The SPIKE-ER is the normal version and the counterpart to Hellfire or our Helina, with up to 8Km range.

sure....lets wait and see....how will it end!!!!

Yes, that's right. Note that the ER version is vehicle mounted, so we may not purchase those, since we have nag in that role already. The man portable one is what we need the most, since we were unable to make such a version of Nag.

BTW the NLOS would be a tremendous addition, if it can be mounted on our LCH - our HELINA's range is only 10 kms.

Read in wiki that India had ordered some 250 gen3 kornet e launchers between 2003-09 :o:
Is this true????
if not then why didn't India purchased this one :what:

And the spike we have ordered....this is spike mr with 2.5 km range correct???

Basically the West has found another stooge in India to buy expensive weaponry to keep the Economy growing in the West.

Looks like the West has found a way to take back all those Out Sourcing Dollars.
