before it was being imported but now it being manufactured in pakistan.

The price is too high for a Suzuki car.If i were to purchase a car i would add 3-4 lakh more to Rs 999,000 and purchase Honda City or Toyota Corolla or used Honda Civic 2005/2006.

Rs.1Million is pretty expensive for such car in my opinion.

In Rs.1Million we can get any good condition 2nd hand car of Honda or Toyota make.

Suzuki charges very high rates for its small cars.

No wonder the car prices were so high.....what kind of Import channel is followed ...because...This car as of now was only manufactured in India ...and I guess..India and Pakistan have no such trade ...as far as I know.

To tell you the real situation of Automobile industry in Pakistan, the following extract and example of a car of Suzuki will be enough.

The Suzuki Mehran is a small car manufactured and marketed by Suzuki in Pakistan. It is generally a rebadged first generation Suzuki Alto.

The car generally lacks essential features which are standard in other cars, such as rear windshield defogger and rear seat belts. As of 2009, the Pakistani-made Suzuki Mehran is one of the few cars in the world which still uses a carburetor based engine.

However, despite all the shortcomings and serious quality criticisms, the Suzuki Mehran is Pakistan's highest selling car due to the lack of alternatives available owing to the monopolistic nature of Pakistan's auto industry and restrictions imposed on imports by the Government of Pakistan.

Khan G, its because of Suzuki's monoply over Automobile industry of Pakistan. In past, they had a plan of importing cheap cars from China but the Suzuki didn't let that happened. You know they "influenced" the policy makers to prevent this to happen.

Yeah Buddy, did a research too during my MS, these car makers have robbed the nation by charging such high rates and restricting imported cars in the name of domestic industry protection thing. The tax on imported cars in 100% or more, just imagine if that is even reduced to 50%, they will still be cheaper then the local ones.

One of my teachers who was heading the NPO, told us that the quality of these cars is such bad that they are not even worth to be put on the road as per international standards. That is the reason with even surplus production we couldn't export them as they aren't worth.

Even the 3 year old Vitz with thousands of miles on the run are better in all aspects compared to a brand new Suzuki.

Only Honda has maintained its quality to great extend in Pakistan, even local made Toyota cars suck too.

I own a suzuki swift zxi (zxi is the highest model) for the past 3yrs. its an amazing car. 87bhp 1300cc and a decent mileage of 12kmpl with AC on.

I spent 6lacs INR. which was like the costliest small car until skoda came out with their small car. (for 7lacs you get a entry level sedan) but its totally worth it. :)
