Why Can’t Vietnam Grow Better Rice?

Damn... This thread make me hungry...

Wow, man...looks so good. Looking at all these Indian food,...

You know what i really miss? Galub jamu (spelling?) ...and ice cream combo.

That's gulab jamun and was that icecream called Kesar Kulfi, otherwise I don't know any other icecream.

Did you try Nasi Lemak ?
I must admit that Vietnam foods are easier to international than some ASEAN countries foods

and Pakistanis?

Oh, ffs how pathetic can one get

on topic: I'm in Malaysia and tried eating with chopsticks - its taking its sweet time. I've found Thai food to be the spiciest, Malays have a very wide variety of food.

:o::o::o::o::o::o::o::o::o::o::o: You're a heretic!

I eat rice, but not too often.

I eat this Southeast Asian style Chicken rice days before. The rice is steamed with chicken soup, very delicious.

Maybe due to soil....

now I'm going to have chicken rice for my dinner... Lol

My aunt is married with a Chinese from Hainan. She can cook the best Hainanese chicken rice in the world.

Amazing and delicious dish. Nothing comes close, perhaps only Pho noddle soup.

I only eat Jasmine rice in the US. Just add a Pandan leaf ( Pandanus amaryllifolius) when cooking it and it will taste like heaven. Now I'm hungry.

Basmati rice is the best rice IMHO.

try eating basmati rice with chinese food and you wont eat chinese food after that
rice grown in an area goes with the cuisine of that area.

North Chinese don't eat much of rice, and the Chinese are known for eating rice as the daily food because most of the Chinese immigrants in the US were from the South China.

yup, that does it. after seeing this picture, definitely going to stop by a Vietnamese resto for dinner.

PS. @Viet , @NiceGuy , @xesy ,

I notice in vietnamese restaurants they readily make available hoisin sauce and oyster sauce. you guys use these also in your home made dishes?

Very true. In northeast China, there is black earth, also called Chernozem. It's very fertile, can produce high quality rice. There are three places that have fertile black earth, Songhua River in North East China, Mississippi River Basin in US, Dnepr River in Ukraine. Plus these areas are cold, rice has longer maturity phase, so it tastes good.

Here, sticky rice will be last thing we would like to eat.
Sticky rice is a little bit hard to digest.

Japan imports rice from NE of China every year.

I saw Japan use longer Rice to make sushi in TV

I prefer NE rice than Viet and Thai Rice , Viet and Thai rice smell good but NE rice is more luscious IMO.
