do you have a source ? ...... just asking !!!!

No But recently PAF chief said we would get Block II soon China and Pakistan are working on quite some time and they have achieved what they wanted

RAWALPINDI: The JF-17 Thunder fighter is all set to attain in-flight refueling capability, according to Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal (ACM) Tahir Rafiq Butt.
“The ground tests have been very successful and I am satisfied. The air-to-air refueling test will be done successfully by end of this summer,” the air force chief said in an interview with Jane’s Defence Weekly.
The Pakistan Air Force acquired Ilyushin Il-78MP air refueling tankers from Ukraine back in 2010. According to ACM Butt, these are now being synchronised with the JF-17, giving it the capability to remain airborne for longer durations.
The PAF chief pointed out that this capability would enhance the aircraft’s marketability. The JF-17 has already attracted interest from a number of nations due to its cost effectiveness, he maintained. According to him, the JF-17 is a ‘true multirole aircraft’ and, in time, would become the mainstay of the PAF. He added that the PAF plans to eventually induct around 200 to 250 of these aircraft.
“The JF-17 programme has been an excellent project to pursue, owing to the hard work put in by our engineers, technicians and test pilots,” ACM Butt said, adding, “All this would also not have been possible without the cooperation of China.”
Meanwhile, answering a question pertaining to the induction of Chinese-built ZDK-03 airborne early warning aircraft, ACM Butt said the platform has so far shown that its capabilities work well over sea, and both lowland and mountainous terrain.
Responding to a query regarding PAF’s plans to acquire other high-tech aircraft, he said options were still open.
“In the meantime, PAF is maintaining and operating a sizeable fleet of US F-16 aircraft, and our air and ground crew are fairly experienced with the weapon system.”

JF-17, the Chinese Premier in Pakistan, and Chief Engineer Yang

5/24/2013

Interview with JF-17 Chief Architect Yang

People, Beijing, May 23 (Reporter Yang Mu) Chinese Premier Li Keqiang his official visit to Pakistan on May 22nd. He arrived at Islamabad, at the Noor Khan air field. Earlier, when Li Keqiang's plane entered Pakistani airspace, the Pakistan Air Force sent six JF-17 fighters to escort the Premier. On stepping out of the door of the airplane, an additional overpass was made over the airport. When the news of this came out, it immediately aroused worldwide attention.

JF-17 is made by the China Aviation Industry Group CATIC, Chengdu Aircraft Industry Corporation and Chengdu Aircraft Design Institute, among other organizations, in jointl development with the Pakistan Air Force. The JF-17 is a new generation of single engined, single-seat, multi-role light fighter, and is an important cooperation between the two countries. It is known as a successful example of cooperation between China and Pakistan. Pakistan Air Force named it the JF-17 Thunder.

On the afternoon of May 23rd, a People's Daily reporter interviewed the "Fierce Dragon" fighter architect Yang.

Reporter: As the designer of the JF-17, how did you feel when Premier Li Keqiang's plane was escorted by the JF-17 when visiting Pakistan?

Yang: Prime Minister's visit being escorted by Pakistani JF-17 fighter, it reflects on the political importance the visit and reflects on the close relationship between China and Pakistan. As the developer we are very proud.

A full escort, it is pretty spectacular and we read the news and saw the pictures. Pakistan sent 6 JF-17s, reflecting the importance of the JF-17 in the Pakistan Air Force.

Reporter: What improvements are to be made on the JF-17 in the future?

Yang: As a fighter, sensor suite and strike capability is the force multiplier. We will focus on improving the JF-17 in terms of information perception, system integration capabilities and weaponry, making it a better third generation aircraft. [Chinese 3rd Generation = Western 4th Generation]

Reporter: Is there plans to develop a two-seater JF-17?

Yang: We have plans to develop two-seater, and there are plans to develop series models.

Reporter: Will the stealth performance further improve?

Yang: the JF-17 itself is not a full stealth aircraft, but the design is considered low observable because of such factors as a front edge of the wing sweep angle, S bend inlet, etc., which are better for stealth. In addition, the JF-17 among third generation aircraft, in the head is relatively small, their stealth is good. The future will take low-cost stealth measures to further improve the stealth ability, but do not develop academic sense, usually defined on the stealth aircraft.

Reporter: What is the status of the JF-17s engine development?

Yang: the engine of the JF-17 fighter and other major national engine developments, is going according to plan and has made considerable achievements.

Reporter: Export Pakistan two batches of "Fierce Dragon" fighter, is filled with domestic engine do?

Yang: export "Fierce Dragon" All parts are made in China, in addition to the engine.

Reporter: "Fierce Dragon" air refueling technology improvements have plans and progress?

Yang: the Palestinian side in the delivery of the second batch of "Fierce Dragon" fighter, there are fighters with aerial refueling capability, which is already included in the signed contract. Within a year or two, we will see with the air refueling capability of the "Fierce Dragon" aircraft in Pakistan.

I guess PAF decided to stick with chineese avionics and radar thats why they are working hard on them to make them as per their requirements(i.e comparable to french avionics PAF slected first)…
In block 2 I don't guess there would be much visible improvements but just Avionics and radar upgrade along with IFR and composites this maybe cause increase in payload & factors like TWR and Climb rate(RCS reduction too) etc………:coffee:
IRST pod is homemade so it can and would be introduced on it whenever needed……:pop:
