What's new

British Colonialism and Partition of Bengal

man partition happened almost 7 decades ago all you people stop dwelling in past

There was a darker side of the law which created most to the dispute. For instance if one of the brothers left for India, the other brothers claimed the ownership of the abandoned property while govt took the possession. Sentimentally, the brothers will always want the property as inheritance but the inheritance law can not be applied to a deserter and not dead. Can it?

She had the merit, she proved by some of her works like Lojja is one. Unfortunately, she acted pervert in her later writings. Let me give you one example, she in one of her writings demanded the right for women to pee openly on streets like men here in BD do from the ground of equality for both genders. Now what a generous guy's demand would be...I hope it'd be that men can't openly pee on streets, it looks vulgar and if materialized, it'd be equal for both genders. But only a pervert will demand like her that women also will start peeing openly on streets if it's really meant for gender equality.
I am not a literature critic, when I read her books, I had never read something so brave especially her refusal to draw any boundary while writing. She is one lady who does not bother about what people will think about her it appeared to me.

Her novel Lojja is based on fact and of good quality...the best of her. Regarding the riot 1st set the mind neutral and then judge the event. 300 hundred years old Babri mosque was destroyed under govt. provided security there in india by your glorious shiv sena. Religious people here were shocked especially thinking how govt. could support it. If it were by some religious bigots without govt. support, that would be different....no?

Now, here the consequence was inevitable though it couldn't develop to a large scale because govt. was against any religious riot. Even army was deployed to protect major Hindu Temples in Dhaka. What more do you expect from a third world illiterate poor country Bangladesh whose neighbor just did the opposite? Now don't start arguing that I'm supporting a riot in retaliation, I never support it as the aftermath of riot in other countries. I've never seen a Hindu-Muslim tension here in BD if something didn't take place in india before, it's always an aftermath of riot there.

Before considering most of Taslima's other books, plz try to know regarding the fact from other sources as well. By the way, how did you read her books, do u know Bangla?

Note: if I'm not wrong Lojja was written on a riot that took place on the aftermath of Babri mosque tension.
its weird that a mosque is demolished in India and bangladeshis riot and kill their own hindus. When ever the reverse happen? Do you see any riot in India when hindu/sikhs are beheaded in pakistan/afganistan or temple destroyed (happened before babri mosque too)

Not anymore. It was the legacy of pre partition riots when Calcutta riots used to spread like hell fire all over the eastern bengal. Unfortunately it happened only once after 1971 and I also seen some of it. Nobody got killed only few people threw brick bats to some of the Mandirs etc. Babri Mosque was a very publicized event and people were following it closely. You cant compare that with other smaller events that took place in Pakistan. Nobody went for rioting after Gujrat incident or Assam incident in Bangladesh.

20 million Hindus left Bangladesh to India in first 50 years of independence since 1947 while 75% of their property was confiscated using enemy Property Act.

Lie, but use some facts conveniently with it so ppl don't find out.Bugger,
If every Hindu family had land as they claim how much land we are talking here?if gov did take the total said land how much they own now?Google will give you the answer. The few families who did own some land most of them sold it to their relatives or neighbors and took the money.
And about leaving BD - why did they ? Our fathers fought for not only for themselves but also for their Hindu friends and neighbors. The moment the newly found freedom came with its attachments of no money,no jobs,no food the Hindus of the new BD jumped the fence quicker than a lightning bolt.
In all my association with freedom fighter/Muktijodha Samshad I have not met one single person who is a Hindu and a freedom fighter who fought for Bangladesh.
Then why Bangladesh should have anything to do with its ungrateful citizens?

See the number of cities we built so far and the industrial output we have in Eastern Bengal. You guys still chewing on Kolkata what british left.

Lets compare everything of W.Bengal and B'desh.:coffee:

Inform us about your per capita in come, HDI, literacy and Industrial output.

Then compare it with W.Bengal from Wikipedia as no other sources fully available.

Do you know that Dhaka does not even have a proper flyover and have only 1/2 multiplexes.

Yes everything is lie as long as it doesn't suit the Bangladeshis fairy tail.

What? BD posters please note what he is talking about. I do not have the full accounts of all the flyovers. But, yet, I am sending videos for a few including the proposed metropolitan train line(s). Other posters will send some others to extinguish Indian posters' appetite for knowing our development works. Being half-educated, I do not know what is 1/2 multiplexes.

What are you talking about? Do you mean that the four/five flyovers in Dhaka, the under construction Jatrabari 10.8 km flyover, the soon-to-be inaugurated expressway over Dhaka to connect all the existing flyovers, the proposed Dhaka Metro Railway etc. etc have all been stolen from Japan or photo shopped by us? There are also a few flyover in Chittagong.

Padma will soon start construction. Happy also to say the GoB intends to build another Padma Bridge at Paturia. We are developing step by step. Any more comments, please!!!

Ok. Congratulations to BD.:pop:

Which Muslim majority Assam district you are talking about? Is it Sylhet? This district was always a part of Sultanate of Bengal. But, for administrative purpose it was added to Assam by the British Bengal Presidency. In 1947 it was returned to Bengal, that's all.

Bengal/east Pakistan was denied entire Murshidabad, half Nadia, half Dinajpur, half Karimganj, half Jalpaiguri, Goalpara of west Assam and many etc. only to provide a corridor to India to colonize NE. Any way, India won, but now is chewing its fingers for indepence movement throughout the NE.
just be happy with what you got during the partition and stop whining about how you were denied of your "rightful" territories!man we can also say the same thing about losing the entire east bengal to you guys.but the truth is we were the majority in the west bengal region just like you were in the eastern part and we wanted to stay with our motherland which is India.but personally i am extremely satisfied with this partition stuff as i even can't imagine myself living in an islamic state!

We the then Indians fought for 200 years to get independence. So, NE will take a few more years. It will quicken only if BD cooperates with the movement covertly. BD is here to retain the status quo, however, it is not helpful to the NE people or to the Indian economy.

Only BD can support NE economic and development aspirations. Why does not India give that land a limited autonomy to deal directly with BD on trade matters? It will take away their frustration with Delhi.
you know that if you start playing dirty games with us,there won't be a bangaldesh left in tghe near future and besides you guys neither have the guts nor the capacity to support them as of now and perhaps not even in the next 50 years...:coffee:
