Jalalabad: There has reportedly been a suicide blast outside the Indian consulate in Jalalabad in Afghanistan.
So far, there are no reports of casualties. All Indian officials are reported to be safe, the External Affairs Ministry has said.

Jalalabad: A suicide blast outside the Indian consulate in Jalalabad in eastern Afghanistan has reportedly left at least 12 people injured.
While local authorities fear there could be many casualties, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs has confirmed that all officials working at the consulate are safe.
The explosion reportedly took place barely 15-20 metres away from the consulate. The building has suffered some damage.
"A car containing explosives hit a barrier near the consulate and detonated," Ahmadzia Abdulzai, Nangarhar province spokesman, told news agency AFP.

According to sources, a security assessment team from Delhi had visited the consulate three days ago in the wake of intelligence inputs about the attack.
"A car containing explosives hit a barrier near the consulate and detonated," Ahmadzia Abdulzai, Nangarhar province spokesman, told news agency AFP.
Afghan security forces have cordoned off the area. Roads near the consulate have been blocked.

The Taliban denied carrying out the attack in a text message to the media.
Indian officials and buildings in Afghanistan have been targeted by militants in past years.
