I am not a complete SE but I m student of SE from PU.
I think Software Engineers in this forum should participate in this thread.. I thought there should be a thread where all SEs should discuss regarding their work or may be i will be getting help as a student.. :P

I am a computer engineer currently in second year in Waterloo. I am taking SE as a minor along with Comp eng. Great thing u stared this thread. :cheers:

I am retired SE
In how many languages you have worked Sir.. ??

Pascal, Basic III+, RPG & C :pakistan:

you really are retired lol

Yea, been at the job for a while now, and by that I mean a year or so

C/C++ still being taught? :what:

I know C++ and C and had courses in them, though mostly I use Objective-C and sometimes C++.

Damn Apple I hate them for making me use a stupid language.

those languages are ancient, no point knowing them now, I have an idea, but never really looked into it.

C++ and C is widely used, if you do well in C++ and C your career will be a lot smoother, also extensive knowledge of Java is very useful.

what are the top ranked languages after Java and .Net.. ??

Pascal (programming language) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
BASIC - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
IBM RPG - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

We also studied assembly language, but haven't worked on it

I think .NET and Java are the best.

Anybody knows about the top one? Supposedly there is new framework out and Java is used extensively in there.
