Breaking News!

U.S. Intelligence: China to conduct test of more powerful anti-satellite weapon (DN-2) capable of hitting GPS, spy satellites, strategic satellites in high-earth orbit.

The missile is described by intelligence agencies as a high-earth orbit interceptor designed to destroy satellites by ramming them at high speeds. The intelligence reports called the new missile a strategically significant counterspace weapon, said the officials familiar with the reports.

China’s last ASAT test in 2007 destroyed a low-earth orbit weather satellite about 558 miles in space, causing an orbiting debris field of tens of thousands of pieces of metal.

U.S. Global Positioning System satellites, used for both navigation and precision missile guidance, are located in medium-earth orbit, or about 12,000 miles, and thus would be vulnerable to the new DN-2.

U.S. lagging in counterspace. “DN-2 ASATs derived from the KT-2 and KT-2A space launch vehicles have the potential to reach high earth orbits used by many strategic U.S. surveillance, communication, and navigation satellites”

Will Chinese's advanced New Weapon DN-2 attack India Satellites too?

India's space assets military implications is limited for now.

Also China has to do more to improve ASAT capability

i wish chinese do this again :P it will give chance to india to do same..
Well,we already possess such tech but never tested it.

Why should anyone attack anyone else just because they develop a few missiles

Pfffft. No one will attack anyone. :drag:

Just wondering if this test results in thousands of debris which destroys few satellites or just one, what would be the repercussions ? Will China pay the damage in that case ?

one question "HOW CAN CHINA ATTACK INDIA WITH A-SAT MISSILE??????????????"

well definately they can destroy Indian satellite that to the LEO satellites.
in contrast India can launch minisatellites with A5 in LEO. so i dont see a major issue.

for distruction of Indian satelliet India must have its own A-SAT capabilities to destroy enimy satellites.

In the event of war, all that will be negligible collateral damage.

In the article name India is not mentioned.

I highly doubt it-China is not the big bad wolf America is trying to paint it as. India has had a consistant stance on the weaponisation of space and has said openly it won't participate in such activities but it has also said it has the capabilities if nessercary to protect its space assets and respond to any aggression from elsewhere.

ASAT test creats debrises in the space which is harmful for other existing setellits including chinese setelites, a responsible country will never do it but if china continues to do ASAT test other countries will find a reason to do it which may lead to dengerous pollution of space.

First of all, India is not mentioned. 2ndly, does India have any satellite in geostationary orbit?

a new version of star war? another step towards peaceful rising of China?
That remembers me to the Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI) proposed by the former U.S. President Ronald Reagan (1983).
