I have gathered data from reputable internal assessment reports & various think tanks, & analyzed how Pakistan has fared in 2009, 2010 & 2011 from the WOT, to see the trends of violence from terrorism, broken up into different regions. The figures for 2011 are updated till October 15, 2011.
Terrorism includes suicide bombings, bombings, gun shootings, target killings & other forms of violence.

These are the results I generated for Pakistan from 2009-2011:

Please do not use this thread for trolling, flaming or baiting. If you don't have anything useful to say, don't post here. I would like to have a serious discussion here.

The number and intensity of attacks in 2011 has really reduced a lot. One doesn't need data to manifest that. The situation has bettered a lot this year.

It is a fact all too evident.

Its good to see the reduction - it can only be good news for all. I think its still bad and the figures are still high but we are certainly heading in the right direction and something for us to work apon!

In 2009 & 2010, attacks were much more prevalent in Punjab, & even in the bigger cities of the country. Violence from terrorism has reduced significantly, & has been concentrated to the Western border regions of Pakistan. More work needs to be done to further reduce terrorism, but the trends are reasonably good. Parts of Balochistan, FATA & KPK still need some work, but overall, the country has been in much better shape in 2011 than it was in 2009 & 2010.

But you still see Western media claiming attacks in Pakistan have increased, especially since May 2 of this year, when that is really not true.

What effects? This WOT has ruined us, its a war that we never initiated.

I have not actually analysed the data. Too busy for that.

Speaking on the appearance of such news item in media.

I think the attacks have reduced a lot.

Brother you know the Western media cant handle any kind of good news or positivity from Pakistan. They dress good stats and make them look bad. Dont ever be blinded by their propaganda

You might not have initiated it per se but you were hand-in-glove with America in sowing the seeds of this frankensteinian monster back in the 80's with full complicity of your Army and ISI.

...this had to follow.

...snakes in thew backyard, you know.

USA was smart in 1980's.. It did breed snakes, but did that in Pakistan's backyard instead of its own.. So even if they end up biting the owner of the yard, it was no skin off the back of USA

That's true, I never hear the BBC give news reports quoting Pakistani officials, giving the Pakistani perspective. Extremely biased. And they never mention anything good about Pakistan.

Either the Americans were smart.

...or the Pakistanis were foolish.

...or better still, the Pakistani Generals got what they wanted....lods of aid, weapons and greenback, yay!

I think the Pakistan Army & security forces have done a great job minimizing the number of retaliatory attacks from the drone strikes, as well as other terrorism. I think the reason for that has a lot to do with the support the Pakistan Army has got from the tribals in the FATA. It has also done a great job confining the incidents to the Western border regions of Pakistan, when they were more widespread throughout the country in the previous years.
