Food Safety in China, and the Risk to the U.S.

What would be your excuse for living in Canada? Half-Anglo/french?:azn:
Because he does not have the courage to live in the country he so 'courageously' defend in cyberspace.

What US needs right now is across the board massive tariff on all import items. With economy in such a hole, we must balance our books.
A balanced approach is my vote. An increase in tariffs and tax reforms to stimulate the private sector.

On the other side of the Pacific, meanwhile, Chinese companies had already been ramping up their own lobbying of Washington lawmakers and officials in an effort to improve their lot in American markets, according to a new report.

Will do eventually, raise enough capital to start something. China is the new land of opportunity you know.

I doubt it. You will stay in Canada for the rest of your life. You do not care for China, never have. Your supposedly link to China is only in your imagination.

I don't blame the Chinese for our current economic mess. If US corporations were not this greedy, average Americans would not have suffered like this. We must end our experiment with globalization. Reform tax code, end subsidies, bring manufacturing back to US

Just as I advocate a balanced approach to reform US, I also advocate a careful allocation of blame to any party IF it is warranted. If the Chinese are found to be blameless, I will be among the first to say so.

Ofcourse they are to be blamed. They artificially keep the prices of their products down. But we let them! Our politicians let them.

There's simple answer. The next time you see a Made in China label, flip whatever the thing is around and see if you find an American logo. If you do contact that company and ask why they are betraying the US of A.

Are you trolling yourself?

And what what you mean you let China. You don't control other country's onetary policy. If you don't approve of a currency peg, you are welcome to not trade with China (see how big business and their lobbyist react to that suggestion/why China is not worried).

We know that. As consumers, we have a choice of voting with our money. As the electorate, we have a choice of voting with our allots and our voices.

Don't be so pleased. Devaluation of dollar is only going to help US in long run. And recent data suggest that US actually has become cheap enough for manufacturing jobs to come back. I don't have power to affect anything accept what I buy but things seem to be taking care of themselves.

After that, be sure to ask the good ol' US government the same question. :P

US Treasury says China is not manipulating currency - Financial Times
And the next administration can say the opposite. Please...China is not fooling anyone. Economists -- not depending on the government for their politically appointed cushy jobs -- worldwide recognize the signs of underhanded currency and trade policies when they see them.

Well I don't shop at Wal-Mart but I doubt you can find anything made in US nowadays. Just In & Out fast food;)
