So you can hide your dirty double faced policy? Perhaps you didn't understand the gravity of what has happend, your country was hosting the most wanted terrorist in the world, Our president is demanding why there are still anti-alqaeda operations in Afghanistan when they have made Pakistan as their base.

mmmmm why dont you ask your president why he sent dead body of osama in US helis for recovering from Abbottabad ? ;)

Osama Bin Laden: Pakistan press lambasts governmen

Pakistani papers condemn the government for having failed to detect the presence of al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden in Abbottabad, terming it a "great embarrassment".

The press says that it was enough to make the US ask Pakistan "very difficult questions", and urges the authorities to take a stronger stand against terrorism and explain whether Pakistani forces were involved in the operation to kill Bin Laden.

A few papers express disbelief about Bin Laden's death and the manner of the operation, dubbing it an attempt to boost the morale of US troops in Afghanistan and President Obama's re-election campaign.

Two papers call on the US to quit Afghanistan, saying it now has no right to be there.

Dawn (Karachi liberal English daily)

"Not since Abdul Qadeer Khan confessed to transferring nuclear technology to Iran and Libya has Pakistan suffered such embarrassment. Right under our military's nose was found Osama Bin Laden, the most wanted man of the decade, living in relative comfort in a compound with stringent security that somehow went unnoticed… Add to this the way he was killed, and embarrassment turns into deep shame… We are to believe that all of this took place without the knowledge of the Pakistani authorities, at least according to the official line… All this leaves us with is multiple sources of embarrassment and worry."

Daily Times (Lahore moderate English daily)

"These are highly suspicious and deeply embarrassing circumstances, given the fact that Pakistan has been an ally of the US in the war on terror since 9/11. To have al-Qaeda's supreme leader found on our turf, living in a relatively comfortable shelter, right under the nose of the military, is enough to make the US ask us some very pressing, very difficult questions. While the US ire is expected in the coming days, one wonders how the army is going to answer a few home-grown questions, which are deeply suspicious of its claim that the military was not involved in the operation."

Jasarat (Karachi Urdu daily of right-wing Jamaat-i-Islami party)

"If this is a victory at all, it is the victory for the US. It is a great embarrassment for Pakistan and will invite countless dangers for us."

The Express Tribune (Karachi moderate English daily)

"The Abbottabad operation has left Pakistan looking somewhat foolish. It now needs to find ways to make amends, both by assessing why Osama's presence in a huge mansion was not detected and by going after the militants, taking swift advantage of the demoralisation or confusion that may exist within at least some outfits as they consider their future strategy."

The Nation (Islamabad nationalist English daily)

"The presence of 'Osama' in our midst provides ideal ground for Pakistan-bashers to justify their claim that there are terrorist sanctuaries in the country. The US might accuse Pakistan of failing in intelligence and co-operation. Thus, one should expect louder howling from US officials to 'do more' and intensified drone attacks and, at the same time, trouble from the Pakistani Taliban Movement, al-Qaeda and militants groups allied to them. Certainly, we have difficult times ahead!"

Nawa-i-Waqt (Islamabad conservative Urdu daily)

"Whoever was killed in this operation - Osama or somebody else - the situation is dreadful for us. This operation in Abbottabad has left a big question mark over our sovereignty and freedom… If the US starts direct action in Pakistan, not only will our economy be affected, but our security will also face serious dangers."

Jang (Rawalpindi mass-circulation Urdu daily)

"The US has been openly saying that the war on terror has not come to an end with Osama's killing. They will continue the war until the last terrorist is gone. The leaders of Pakistan should understand this dangerous US attitude and should adopt a concrete policy to save the country."

Pakistan Observer (Islamabad pro-army English daily)

"Details are still sketchy and important links are missing in the story, and that is why there is an element of disbelief in Osama's death… The hush-hush style has helped strengthen the belief that the tricky CIA might have even hoodwinked President Obama… There are also several other questions, including whether it is a crude attempt to create a justification for shifting the war on terror to Pakistan, besides giving a boost to President Obama ahead of presidential elections and providing adequate face-saving for beginning the planned withdrawal from Afghanistan."

Khabaroona (Peshawar moderate Pashto daily)

"The US has no legal right to continue its operations in Afghanistan and Pakistan after Osama's killing, because if it continues the fighting it will be a fight against the people of Pakistan and Afghanistan. If it does not change its policy towards both countries it will bring very dire consequence for the US, which will be solely responsible."

Jinnah (Islamabad Urdu daily, critical of US)

"The US must withdraw its forces from the region after Osama's killing so that the increase in terrorist activities here due to its presence can be reduced. Pakistan and Afghanistan can handle the situation better. So bidding farewell to the US would be the best policy."

Intelligence officials wonder if Osama is really dead

ISLAMABAD: While the world seems eager to join in the jubilation of the United States over the killing of the world’s ‘Most Wanted Terrorist’, Osama bin Laden, speculation is rife among Pakistani intelligence officials whether the men killed at theOsama bin Laden at all.

“Isn’t the picture of the person riddled with bullets, released by US attackers, of Osama’s son who was killed during the operation?” an official attached with investigative agencies questioned. He is not the only one in Pakistan’s intelligence agencies who finds it hard to believe, given the sketchy evidence, that Osama bin Laden was present in the hideaway when the attack was conducted.

“This is probably the second, if not the third, time that Osama bin Laden has been killed or died a natural death,” a senior intelligence official told The News on condition of anonymity. “The story has such wide, gaping holes in it that it’s hard to fully believe it, even for a gullible person. The main question is: why were US forces in such a hurry to leave the compound? Why could they not wait for some credible Pakistani authorities to join them after they had successfully accomplished their task?”

Intelligence officials here say even if they could believe that there were genuine fears of intelligence failure if the US had made its intentions known to Pakistan, the US should at least have taken bin Laden’s dead body to the Bagram Base in Afghanistan and let the leaders of partners from Nato and other countries have a look at the corpse of the world’s most wanted terrorist.

“The haste to get rid of the body has created some very serious doubts about the whole operation and about the US claim of nabbing Osama bin Laden,” said a senior intelligence official. “This time, the US kept everything under thick wraps, which has raised intense suspicions.”

When questioned about the statement by US authorities that the video film of bin Laden’s burial would be released soon, the intelligence sources questioned, “What is that going to prove? Who is going to believe whose body or remains have been photographed, videotaped, wrapped in that shroud and dumped into the ocean from the deck of an aircraft carrier of the United States of America? How will that be enough proof that the body in that bag, dumped into the ocean, was Osama bin Laden’s?” he asked.

Another suspicious piece of information is American authorities’ claim that the blood sample of bin Laden’s sister, who died of cancer in the USA a few years ago, matched the blood sample of Osama bin Laden, taken after he was killed in Abbottabad. “The problem is, Osama was one of 54 scions of Muhammad bin Laden. Why did American authorities not take blood samples from the brothers and sisters who are alive and healthy; why did they match Osama’s blood samples with a deceased relative?”

Yet another interesting question is why the Americans did not preserve his body for a proper DNA test and formal burial. “What was the hurry, first to take his body directly to the aircraft carrier docked somewhere in the ocean, and then, within hours, to perform his last rites, which the Americans claim they did in accordance with Islamic guidelines? Why get rid of his body in this way, by throwing it into the ocean, so there is now no chance to recover his remains and confirm that the deceased was actually Osama bin Laden?” a senior intelligence official told The News.

A security official added: “Why should anyone believe that bin Laden hasn’t been dead for a long time now but the US decided to tell the world only when it has to start pulling out of Afghanistan and the next presidential election is around the corner (2012)?”

Well this isn't about if and when Pakistani forces could / would -- it's about Osama living not in a cave but pretty much a calm and peaceful life with wives and children in a Pakistani city -- and all the while Pakistan assured the world that he's not in Pakistan or if he is, he on some fantasy Pak/Afghan border mountains
If that is where we thought he was, what exactly is the problem?
You know what the world is upset about, to put it mildly, is just how crazy you have to be to take on US when there was no need to, when they offered all kinds of monies to just cooperate for your own benefit.
Who said we took on the US on this?
A Pakistan free of this idiot army and her idiot machinations, a Pakistan free of the US and her aid, a Pakistan free of the enmity of her neighbors:pakistan: -- Sound good?? It begins with coming clean with yourself.
A Pakistan 'free of her Army' will do nothing more. It is a 'Pakistan free of the current corrupt and inept political leadership' that will deliver, with the Army staying in the barracks.

And what 'machinations' are you referring to in the OBL situation?

They also said Iraq had WMD's. Just because the CIA chief had concerns does not mean those concerns are true or justified.

i wonder when Americans themselves know what has happened and thats why you see statements like its a joint success, we will continue cooperation with Pakistan, etc etc though some feelers they do throw just as a balancing act, but i wonder why Indians are so much naive or in other words saying "but sir CIA says this and that".

anyway a well coordinated act rest is all topi drama

This might have been posted already, but borrowing from another poster on another forum;

The US House 'toning things down' already?

US House Speaker for robust ties with Pakistan; dismisses criticism:

Washington - Wednesday, May 04, 2011: Speaker U.S. House of Representatives John Boehner has called for forging a strong relationship with “critical” ally Pakistan and dismissed any talk of cutting aid to the South Asian country due to eliminated al-Qaeda’ leader Osama bi Laden’s hiding in a Pakistani town. The Speaker, who just returned from a congressional visit to the region, told American media that the U.S. relationship with Pakistan is critical to breaking the back of al-Qaida. Boehner brushed aside much of the criticism levelled against Pakistan after the killing of bin Laden.

Kerry says Pakistan’s concerns about end-state in Afghanistan must be addressed:

Washington - Wednesday, May 04, 2011: Senator John Kerry, chairman of Foreign Relations Committee, has said the United States must help address Pakistan’s concerns about the end-state in Aghanistan as the international partners move towards a drawdown from the conflict-hit country. “While we have been working closely with our Pakistani allies to address our common threats, ultimately, we must address Pakistani concerns about what the end-state in Afghanistan looks like,” Senator Kerry said in a statement at the start of a hearing on Afghanistan.

:) well agreed on talking part.

just want to ask you what you believe ?? i mean as an indian what is your neutral understanding irrespective of your hate towards Pakistan. tell me do you believe what is being said is true ?

To much uncomfirmed rumor to keep us talking about alternatives for a few months at least.

The reason behind the hasty burial at sea provided by the US is BS. They could have used any number of reasons to delay disposal of the body for a few days and keep it on the carrier, and invited international journalists and officials to validate the identity.
